Hey guys, I just received the rc4wd hi-lift Jack and I was wondering what you guys have done to mount your jacks securely to the body. I'm thinking on the bonnet/hood as my preferred spot for placement. Any tips/tricks/suggestions and pictures would be appreciated. TIA all

Ive used rare earth magnets under the body with a screw embeded in the accessory to hold it in place they may work to attach the jack to your hood

I've thought about servo posts to go on the hood. Haven't done it yet I'm looking for something a bit more scale. Surprised no one sells something since it's fairly common in full size applications.

I was thinking the same FloridaCrawler.

Where would you suggest as an alternative location TacoCrawler? I have the Gear Head roof rack, which was considered also, however again, what's the best way to have it securely mounted other than cable ties. Which I'm not inclined to do personally

Since it is a "Scale" item put it where you would in reality or close to it. If it is on the hood would you put it there on your 1:1 and scratch/dent the crap out of your rig?

I drilled and used 3mm bolts with 2 or 3mm standoffs and a locknut on the backside of both of these. You will never use it so don't worry about the hole.

Thanks cmbscx10. That was kind of what I was thinking about doing. I have seen some on the hood before, but I think the truck had some kind of rack mounted there, included a spare tyre and a few other bits and pieces on it. Just looked cool driving past!

One of the dumbest places Ive seen people put their Hi-Lifts on 1:1s is the front bumper:roll:

But if you have a Jeep you can make a bracket to mount it off your spare tire carrier. This bracket holds my "rotopax" cans too

they are a mount that bolts to the hinges for the hood. Never seen one with a spare tire though

That jack mount on the hood is for the Mall Crawlers. After a long day on the trail turning the wheel all day long the last thing you want to do is pick up a 30lb 5ft bar aka hi Lift, jack up your rig, pull off a flat 50+lb tire, pull of a 50+lb spare tire, put a 50lb+ spare tire on, mount the flat 50lb+ tire where the spare was and then mount your 30lb 5ft bar aka hi Lift all without a slip up resulting in a dent and FD-Up paint.

We try to make our RC's as "Real" looking as possible so why not the accessories.

Titanium servos and 11oz of bb's in each tire I really don't worry about a few oz on the hood. I used the brackets that came with the U-rings

Can be difficult to find HiLift mounting spot where it won't get broken on rollovers, mounted mine to the hood. My 1:1 wheeler had plenty of scratches on it from rocks and brush, mounted my Hilift just inside the bed rail with brackets I welded together, but not practical on a Blazer like my Ascender. :)

Post #526, incorporated my hood pins into the Hi-Lift jack that I made from styrene.

I seen a nice, deep, glossy, BLACK, 1:1 jeep yesterday, with a HiLift across the hood :???::???:

My fave mounting spot - guess it really only works on this vehicle:
