I really have no idea what possessed me to start a rally car,
could have been all the cool builds going on,
could be the fact that I'm surrounded by semi flat dirt,
could even be the fact that I'm still waiting on parts for my Wraith,
but most of all it could be that I just "Can't Let Turtle Have All The Fun" :ror:
Anyhow, one of the reasons I didn't do it sooner is the 200mm rally conversion kits made by Associated are no longer available.
They reproduce every part but the front arms.
I figure between the laser cutter and my mill I will be able to make a set of arms that will work just fine.
If anyone is thinking of doing the same with their old TC3, here is a link for the manual, it includes a parts list of what's needed for the conversion.
http://teamassociated.com/pdf/cars_and_trucks/TC3/3020.pdf
Shortened Parts list of what is required for the conversion:
3895 TC3 rear tower
3980 TC3 Rally front bumper
3982 TC3 200mm front arm (unavailable)
3984 TC3 200mm rear arm
3986 200mm composite CVD
6264 Turnbuckle, 1.375" (5ea)
6274 Ball cup (10ea)
6461 Shock Shaft, .56 (2ea, 4 total)
6494 Green spring, 3.5 lb.
8232 Black spring, 3.2 lb.
One old TC3 :ror:
A quick gutting and ditch the blue aluminum hardware, I'm way passed the AE blue era.
That's better.
In talking to Ty, he mentioned that a inner body was extremely important, seeing that they didn't make one for the TC3 Rally I opt'd for some .040" ABS I had laying around.
No the prettiest thing but it will work. It will also make a good platform for the drivers.
New specs to include:
200mm conversion
CS170 servo (had it laying around)
Castle SCT (Sidwinder & 4pole 3800kv)
2S Hardcase lipo.
Subi body
Various wheels and tires.. :ror:
More to come as parts show up.
