Must watch video hd gear mod

The cart weighs 27 lbs and my (little) girl weighs 34 lbs
the xl pulls 60 lbs like NOTHING !! Im gonna do a stupid High speed cart video where I'm pulling my self at 30+ mph lol and I weigh 280 lbs lol Road rash is to be expected.. Maybe I could find a drunk nitwit during the 4th instead lol
Honestly the biggest torture test was 23 tooth pinion 6s two wheel drive ,locker ....hot top doughnuts...Destroyed BOTH rear outputs and sheared a dog bone pin... Yet priceless ..
I'm doing the Losi HD output conversion.. The losi outputs need to be trimmed off 2mm so they can fit in the diff housing.. Thanks for the advice Mike !!

Just did BHB HD pinion mod myself, it works!!! I used my drill press with a dremel reinforced cut off wheel in the chuck, adjusted the table all the way up then pushed the pinion into the cut off the wheel to take the step off and make a 90 degree angle, super easy. Thanks BHB."thumbsup"

Just did it as well! Yodas approach sounds way more refined than mine but after installing the modded HD pinion and then putting in my other non-modded one the difference is clear. Can't wait to get the 2nd one done so I'll have em both ready to go!

All i did was place it in a small c clamp I bought and took my Dremel and the recommended cutting wheel and worked my way around. Not the prettiest thing but it seems to have worked! Thanks for the awesome mod BHB!

Im holding off on modding my rear one to see what aluminum housing I can get. I'd like to get the verison 1 vp housing but I doubt that's going to happen, so maybe they'll release verison 2 or dhawk/gpm will come out with a rear housing that won't need the pinion to be modded.

Yoda, call/email Vanquish and let them know you're aware of the necessary mod and they should arrange a way for you to buy one from their pulled stock. I emailed seeing if I could get one at a discounted price due to the needed mod and while he didn't seem open to selling it below their original asking price he was willing to find one for me and everything! Best of luck

It is! Cool to see BHBs mod getting recognized outside of RCC too!

It is ?? How so ?? I haven't seen ANYONE step up to the plate about it...I've contacted people that "Could help" but everyone stays pretty quiet .. Do you have a link ??
Also that's great news about Vanquish possibly working out a deal with customers ..I'd buy a couple more because they are Amazing.. Especially with a BHB front hub conversion "thumbsup"yep it's coming .. Also talking to GPM about a solid axle as well..

Just the fact that they understand that their is a required mod (yours) that has to be done before their axles will work at the moment. They won't sell them unless you know about the mod (yours) as they know it won't work unless you do!

Well as an update after performing the HD mod...

A bearing went out on the rear axle on the ring gear side... Fixed that and then managed to break an output cup on the front diff...

But the mod has done great! The rear gears got a little damaged from the bearing but other than that they're holding up great so far. Hoping to get some more parts in soon so I can give it some longer test runs!

Oho cool ! They knew about the issue before I did lol I just happen to come up with the fix.. I'm sure if I didn't someone else would've "thumbsup" Its sorta obvious after assembly "something's wrong"
After you get the bearings straightened out all should be well with the diffs

I hope/think you're right! The blown bearing damaged the rear axle housing some so I'll probably have to order another one to prevent it reoccurring so that's a pain but I'm hoping that'll be the end of that!

I CAN ONLY HOPE THIS BECOMES A "STICKY"

Guys ... I've done almost 100 pinions... "thumbsup" Just remember this is a simple procedure all it takes is some time & patience "thumbsup" My life is a little hectic right now but I'm still willing to do them "thumbsup" It might not be over night return.. BUT I'll get it out SOON as I can.

Can you pick out the one that doesn't work in this picture ??

BHB MOD VS AXIAL

This is how the bearing should look after the mod. (IF) too much material has been removed you can always install the shims first to recede the pinion."thumbsup" BUT ONLY IF ... Honestly.. I think the teeth let you know ... you've gone too far.. 90 degrees from the tip of the tooth to the pinion shaft...

I figured you love seeing them going back out with in 8 hrs "thumbsup"

Well I've noticed I've been receiving more single pinions ... That must mean Dhawk V2 are selling like hotcakes... Your welcome Jimmy Dhawk Lol

Yes the video, Dhawks V2 and basher testimony is convicting enough lol but I should of taken this picture along time ago because a picture says a thousand words lol"thumbsup"

This is why Axial sells out of replacement parts... Sad because it IS one IF not the baddest Rc on the market !!

Don't worry guys ... I'll make sure the XL sticks around if I can.."thumbsup"

Axial owes me a thanks for all of my time and effort helping it's customers... and making the XL a reliable Thrasher !!

I wish I had some time to spend with my XL but it hasn't been driven in months. We have TONS of XL axles on the shelf but can't advertise them for sale until we address the issue. If anyone wants to buy one knowing the issues with the HD gear then I have no problem selling them one.

"thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup" Guys !! Please save me two Axles for my 1/8 scale crawler

For what it's worth I am STILL using the same STOCK plastic front housing since I did the BHB mod and all on 6S with no problems. I have a V1 DHAWK housing but haven't needed it. Still stock rear housing too. Lost a rear pinion bearing a few packs ago and put the same BHB mod gears in new housing and it is perfect.

Thanks for vouching for the mod from the start Steve !!! I got this going so we could enjoy the XL instead of cutting our losses and abandoning it...
And your absolutely right about performing the mod isn't brainsergery nor dose the XL require aluminum housing... it's more of a piece of mind...
