My first Axial and Second build.

I got a chance to install the front OD gear set, put on the 12t pinion, vented the tires and installed IERC shock keys on the rear. Also adjusted the preload on the front shocks.

This lowered the ride height by 3/4 of an inch.

Went to a charity comp and crawl Saturday.

In ran the course clean (made some steep gates the LCG guys couldn’t climb) but was too slow and finished mid pack. Need to work on my speed!

Over all I’m happy and still have some better shocks to install.

After the comp I wanted to upgrade the stock shocks. I had a set of Incision 90mm shocks.

I am going to start with 45 weight oil and Red/soft springs front and Blue/medium springs in the rear.

The truck is light. Will adjust from there.

Any one else running the Incisions?

Ran the truck Saturday with these latest changes. It’s great!

Went thru two battery packs. One rear shock came loose. I used too short a bolt. m3x16 and replaced with m3x20. Also finally stripped out the stock plastic servo horn.

I had my tools and spare part kit with me so made the repairs and got back to crawling with the crew.

Crawling with new friends, some carnage and an awesome spot. Great day!

More tuning……..metal shock hoops and shock oil change. Went to 40 in the front and 60 in the rear.

Definitely less “give” an obvious improvement. More predictable.

Second benefit is more steering angle to the panhard mount side.

Plus better and more consistent/accurate steering response.

Of course this is old hat to most of you, but these improvements are really cool to me! 😁

These changes helped but the front ride height was still a little too high.

Added the IERC shocks keys I had to the front and dropped it.

Stance is now where I want it.

I also swapped out the RBK one piece battery tray for the multiple piece one from the Cherokee kit. This one has the mounting points for a second servo.

Installed a Muscle Winch.

Last went Chrome! SSD wheels and scale disc break rotors……looks cool!

I’m impressed with these wheels from SSD.

They are a reasonably priced option. I have some hi dollar wheels on other rigs. But for a rig that’s run hard and in some rocky terrain these are great!

SSD's steelies are definitely a great choice - and easy to assemble, to boot!

And having multiple designs and finishes helps when it comes time to pick a new set for a new build.

Ran the truck again and decided to make a few adjustments.

Lowered the front a little more and went to 60wt front and 80wt rear.

Going crawl tomorrow to see what this does……..😁
