This afternoon I finally got to take my Clod out to a spot I found for some crawling. My bro tagged along and shot some pretty good pics with our not so good camera. Enjoy!

Making sure everything works.....

As much as I'd like to claim that this happened after trying too hard on the rocks next to my crashed truck, I tried to kill the small dead tree, and flipped over.

There's no way I could actually get on top of this mega rock, so I just articulated on the side.

I tried to climb on top, flipped it, and put it on top......but did it too fast for my bro to catch.

You can't see it, but the rear pinion fell off and I was about to work on it. I didn't have the hex wrench in my tool box though, so it killed my run before I even got to the second pack.

The silver cans have a decent amount of torque, but I need some lathe motors! Overall, everything worked good, but I think I also need a longer wheelbase to help with some of the weird angles I encountered. It was a fun little trip, but being thwarted by a dumb little grub screw really ticks me off......it won't happen again!

I think locktite on those set screws would be a good idea.. I've had a few trips ruined by losing a screw

I've always been afraid it'll work its way into my gears too 8O

Lathe motors rock; I had a chance to use them once when Kevinlongisland came up to my place.. They're awesome, TONS of torque.

I've had the grub screws fall out of the pinions. It's lame, especially if you have to tear your gearboxes apart to find the screw. Two words Blue Locktite. It solved that problem for good.

Looks like you had some fun. Now find some bigger rocks! :P

My brother has some blue Loctite, and with clear gear covers, I just remove the two screws and the motor is out. Anyway, I'll do that sometime so that it doesn't happen again. I'd really like to get them lathe motors some time soon, I might have to blame the obvious charge on my brother's tendancy to buy crap off Ebay with my account......hmmmm.......

Hey, those rocks ARE big, some spots so big that they swallowed up my Clod and I couldn't get out! Also, the pinion pooped out before I could check out more of the spot, but I think there's more to see next time.
