I am just getting into the monster truck scene, Ive been into the stadium trucks, but its been about 5 years. I started reading up on these monster trucks and wanted something other than my jeep to play with. heres a list of the just get it to run stuff:

LZ218473 Tamiya TXT-1 Monster Truck 4WD Kit
LZ218473 Tower Hobbies 2TXP 2-Channel AM/1 TS-53 Servo 73 75650
LZ218473 Tower Hobbies TS-70MG Super-Torque 2BB Servo U
LZ218473 Tower Hobbies 6-Cell 7.2V 1500mAh Stick Standard NiCd
LZ218473 Sanyo AA Alkaline Battery (eight)
LZ218473 Tower Hobbies 420 AC/DC 6-7 Cell Charger
LZ218473 Tower Hobbies Medium CA Glue 2.5 Grams
I also have a ESC from one of my old stadium trucks I'll try and dig a brand off it and ask here if its any good. Anyway thats what I have coming now, and this is some stuff that I am thinking of ordering:

http://rc4wdstore.com/shopping_cart.php

Full Aluminum Steering Links Kit for TXT-1
Upper Axle Case Aluminum Brace for TXT-1 (2)
Advanced Steering Knuckles for Clod & TXT-1
Punisher Shaft for Tamiya TXT-1
Aluminum 4 Links Tie Rod End Upgrade Kit for TXT-1
9 Tooth 32 Pitch Steel Pinion Gear
Beadlock Wheels for 2.2 Tires (12mm) Super Narrow

I can't seem to find the GD600 that everyone talks about running with a 9 tooth pinion and single motor. I am also going to drill air holes in the beadlock rims and add weight and foam. I am going to do the link swap, lower to top and vise versa and mount the lowers on top of the axle to net about 15" WB, and I'm also going to relocate the shocks. I am also going to JB weld the diffs and remove bumpers, and cut the chassis and relocated tranny, and mount batterys to front of rig.

any comments and or advise would be great thanks, Andrew "thumbsup"

PS: where can I get a jeep rubicon clear lexan body? and whats the best place to buy tires?

I started my TXT build over the last 2 days and now am getting into the electronics, I don't wanna run 4 wheel steer yet, and i am having issues mounting a hard point to the axle somewhere in the rear. then the front for my servo mount, anyone make a servo mount for these, much like the one made in the tech forum in top 10 things for your txt. otherwise I installed a ESC and a heavy duty steering servo, I just double side taped it to the chassis and zip tied the reciver and the esc together and gonna make up some battery mounts for the front, maybe dual 7.2 up front that way, one runs out then unplug it and plug in the other one. or would that be to much weight? sorry to be rambling on, I'll get pics up tomarrow hopefully to help you guys better understand my babblin "thumbsup"

ok got it all together today I need longer driveshafts, so I cut up the 2 stockers and made one rear driveline, my reverse is real slow is that normal? also my steering servo the pitman arm thing keeps stripping out on the servo. what have you guys done to fix this? and also my suspension is very limited inflex.
pics up tomarrow for sure

here are some pics sorry for the quality got a ****ty camera:

Well, to better answer your questions......where are you going with this truck? Are you going for just an all around monster/jumper/basher, or a crawler?

If you are going for a crawler then lengthen your wheelbase and lower your COG. Also I would suggest changing out your wheels/tires with maybe the Moab series or a set of LST's. And ditch your stock shocks.

As far as longer driveshafts, I would recommend the REVo driveshaft upgrade.

All around wheeler/ crawler, ive locked my diffs and switched my upper and lower links and mounted them to the top of the axle to extend my wheelbase to about 15.25" and raised the tranny and cut the lower portion off the frame. I am gonna get the narrow beadlocks and moabs from rc4wd.com then get a HD steering servo for the rear and have 4 wheel steering. I was gonna cut my stock wheels down and custom cut my tires for a diff tread pattern. also where can I get an aluminum steering arm for the servo? my plastic ones stripped. what shocks are the best?

oh and I built some custom get it running style driveshafts, so the revo ones with bolt right in? are they stock revo shafts? same front and rear?

Thanks " The Muscle" what steering servos you guys running? did I mke a mistake by gettign the cheap tower hobbies one? should I upgrade to hitech or futaba? alsowhat would make it so that I have almost no power in reverse? will my gd600 and 9 tooth pinion take care of that? I am running stock motors.

My txt doesn't seem to have much power over obstacles ecspecially in reverse its just not fast at all, and its all stock with only one motor. I don't have a clue on what could make this thing a slug. also when you guys are out on the street or flat surface and you are full throttling it when u let off does it suddenly stop? mine if I let off the throttle it stops dead in the track

ok called a local rc hobby store and talked to the guy there and he said that my old ESC wasn't up to the task that the txt wanted to dish out. so I ordered a novak ezx E.S.C and 2 venom 3000 a gd600 and 2 9 tooth pinion gears, and 2 trinity P2K2 motors, I am gonna run dual motors and dual batterys, hopefully this setup will work, also ordered narrow beadlocks nd moabs

Why buy 9tooth pinions if youre gonna run a gd600?
And one more thing, Why order 2 motors if you can only put one on a GD600 and a stock canwith a GD is perfect fot the job btw :)
btw succes and lower it down ;-)
Have fun building

I am gonna try the stock motor on a gd600. I just got a novak EVX speed control so I was running dual battery and dual motors and this is crazy fast now, lol, I am gonna try the one motor thing and a gd600 then try a dual motor with 9 tooth pinions and see the diff

If I was you, and I wanted to be a wheeler/cralwer, I would search throught the how to's and build ups on this board and other boards to see what ideas have worked, and what ideas have not worked. Right now you are doing things the hard way, as everyone has said, lower you center og gravity, that thing, and I'm not trying to be a caulk or anything but, that won't crawl better than stock, won't jump better than stock, and it won't handle better than stock. Eeepee has a great setup for general crawling you could copy that to a tee and have saved lots of work and frustration for the better vehicle. I understand that learning is fun, but learning through reading history is much better than repeating it. You stated that it was slow, do you want to use this vehicle for other things than crawling? You might need to take a look at some sites that have people building TXT's for racing, not just crawling so you can cross breed ideas.

My .02

buh bye

ok I'll try and get pics up tomarrow, I lowered the body as low as it would go and I lowered the whole truck down over an 1.5" now fromt the ground to bottom of chassis is about 5.25" I like how it crawls and works now like stated a lower COG is great, flip it once because I hit a hard line on some rocks, when before on the same terrain I would flip it on any line across this one rock, now I just crawl on and over it. I am gonn go with 2 lathe motors and 9 tooth pinions my buddy is sending me his 2 new and un used trinity P2K2 motors also. so I will see what combo I like better. I also have a GD600 sitting here for when I decide to go complete rock crawler.
