Hi evryone im new here and just got a wheely king..

Ive had many Traxxas rcs trucks so im new to the slow straight axle type trucks.......

Ive been on the traxxas forums for two years but they only support talk for "There Products"

So i decided to come here.

So far i managed to brake the steer C ring, But read that i could buy a nylon 3/4 inch thick washer and cut it, And it would be stronger than the stock one.

I will say im not used to a slow truck like this lol So i ordered a 2s lipo.
I plan on doing a axle servo mount and some rear axle lockouts and maybe lock diffs.

I want this truck to be somewhat fast yet able to crawl.
Any other opinions would be nice
Thanks

I have a Wheely King that I turned into a crawler. I made all my links and servo mount from aluminum. I flipped the chassis so the battery is in the front. Check out my photos on my page. Let me know if I can help with any mods?

Thats nice looking.....

So would you recommend i turn mine into a crawler using aluminum aftermarket parts instead of the conversion kit that Hpi makes??????

I just used it and tried crawling and already can say that it definitely needs a axle servo mount....
I want that to be my first mod but don't know how thats gonna work out with the short wheelbase.

I wanted to build my own, so I bought 1/4 aluminum rod and drilled and tapped them for Traxxas rod ends. I wanted a longer wheelbase then the ones from hpi. My truck sets at 13" wheelbase.

Wow thats cool......

I actually want the wheelbase the Axail wraith has....
I like the look of that better with the wheels too...

Im not sure how i could make my own rods because i have no threading tools.

If you go to the search tab and do an advanced search on homemade links you'll find a few different techniques.

Here you go.

Thanks Man

That looks awsome.....

So i need to buy new mounts for the suspension.....

I just made a front servo mount using a template and made it slighty to small :) lol
Time to make another.

Stupid printer didn't scale it right!

Im not sure if this will help you but I made a template using thin cardboard and then out of aluminum.

Hmm that seem to be a better idea...... I have another template that is scaled right so I'm pretty sure i can make it....

I just need some aluminum thats the right size....
Right now I'm just using some thin steel.

Here it is as it sits

Basically i want to extend the wheel base.
Get a front servo mount
Lock the diffs
Get a scale looking type of body
Nice grippy tires--any suggestions
And put lights on it.

To sum it all up i want it to be like the Axail wraith.

What kind of budget are you looking at?
Any of the xl mt bodies will work. (3.3tmaxx)
Proline 2.2 tsl's are great.
For longer links pick up some 1/4" x.035 aluminum tubing and 8/32 all thread traxxas revo rod ends and make them the length you need.
The stock chassis sucks btw, the cg is to high, and the belly clearance is to low. Kiss method would be to pick up a x trail or scx chassis and go from there. Or you could make your own. Let me know if you have any questions.

Check my old thread "New life for and old WK" I built a chassis out of aluminum similar to an Axial chassis for around $15
