The IROK tires are one of my favorite looking, but RC4WD compound just hasn't kept up with the times. Have you tried Proline G8 or Predator compound to compare?
I had the same panhard issue when I softened my springs, switching to an aluminum mount fixed it for me too. As for the RX frying, I once roasted mine off a hard landing as well. Adding a good BEC and a small capacitor right at the receiver helped soak up the spikes.
