My Kamikaze Kustoms Zero/Berg build

Ok first let me start by thanking Kamikaze for the kick ass chassis"thumbsup"

The only thing i do not have to finish up this build is a set of wheels.

Here is my parts list followed by a few pics

Berg axles
45t v-11 motors
CC Sidewinder ESC

Hitec 5955 steering servo
Hitec micro servo for the dig
Two micro switches
Ax10 bent lower rear links
Ax10 straight lower front links
Traxxas revo pushrod #5319 rear upper links

Nuts and screws from the Berg kit
Panther tires

This build went together without a snag other than i can not find any wheels i can get my hands on quick.

With this setup I have just over 3inches of ride height and a 12 3/8 wheelbase. The suspension moves perfect and super smooth.The rear axle is clocked up as far as it can go without the upper rear links getting into the case at full flex and the front axle sits perfect for the steering.

I must say this chassis with these axles will be hard to beat .

This build went together without a snag other than i can not find any wheels i can get my hands on quick.

I'd advise being gentle with the VF wheels if you decide to go that route. I'm not trying to bash VF or anything, they hold a bead well and the machine work is good, but I bent the crap out of one a while back. The spokes on the front are just way too thin. It also took them a while to get a replacement to me, though in all fairness that was at about the same time as they were trying to fill umpteen million dig orders. Either way, I'd hold out for a set of tuckers or mayhems. I wish unimogger would come out with OCM/Berg offset wheels! Also, it's a pity the stock wheels are so ugly and the offset's wrong, they're really quite nice. I mounted up a set of hammers to them and it went as easily as any wheels I've ever owned. They are also holding on to them stronger than I can pull on them, even though hammers are reputed to be hard to mount and prone to pulling out.

Well guys it looks like all my wheel issues are over.
I should have a set of Mayhem OCM offset wheels on the way this week.!!!!
And i also had a very nice fellow say he would loan me a set of VF's next week if i need them.

I was working on this rig this morning and the more i looked at it the more i thought it needed a set of bent links up front. So before i ordered a set i noticed that the stock Berg links are a little longer than the Axial links this chassis uses and light bulbs:idea: started to flash.

I took the links provided in the Berg kit and the set screws then replaced the Berg junk ends with normal Traxxas ends. The length of this allowed me to place the links in the vice(they are solid links) and bend them untill the wheelbase was correct.

So for people that do not have a set of Axial bent links and do not want to buy any this works great.

The links are very good but the rod ends develope a lot of play over time.
