I do not own a 3D printer. There appears to be a few locals offering 3D printing services.

Should I purchase a file off of My Mini Factory, is it transferrable or sharable so that I might have them printed by another individual?

Any other related knowledge/experience to consider before doing so is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

The short answer is yes.

The files you'll receive from MyMiniFactory (or most any other seller) will be an .STL (stereo lithography) and can be loaded/sliced/printed by most anyone.

Many times you can order them printed online, and of course if you’re rich, shapeways can do it for double the cost.

As others have said, you buy the STL file. That's the model of the part. You buy it once, but can print as many copies as you'd like. The STL file does need to be run through a slicer and converted to gcode, but anybody with a 3D printer has that ability.

Shapeways prices have gotten crazy in some cases. That's why I've looked for other places. I'm trying Sculpteo.

Have 3 printers you get the files and I will print for free..... PM me and we can go from there.

Thank you for the insight guys. Wasn’t sure if there were conditions surrounding the purchase. I have ordered a fair amount from Shapeways over the years, but am feeling it’s time to move on. It really is crazy how expensive even a small order of pieces can get.
