My motor suddenly stopped. Can you help me?

Hey y'all. I'm new to R/C, so forgive me if I miss something basic... I have an SCX10. It has a Helion HRS-3.1 remote/receiver and a Quicrun WP 1080 G2 ESC.

Earlier I was driving it and everything was working fine, until it suddenly stopped. So, I turned it off and switched the battery.

When I turned it on, the ESC just blinks red constantly and will not start the motor. The steering still works fine. See here:

The ESC manual says that this means the motor control wires are plugged into the receiver wrong, but they are plugged in correctly. (It was working fine before it stopped, and I double checked them.)

When I try to calibrate the throttle on the ESC, I can't seem to get it into calibration mode. The manual says

>Hold the SET button and turn on the ESC. Release the SET button and it will blink/beep once to enter calibration mode.

But, when I release the SET button, it just continues blinking/beeping indefinitely. See here:

If I switch the throttle and steering wires (So that throttle is on CH1 and steering is on CH2) then the motor works by steering the remote, but the throttle still does nothing. (I would expect it to move the steering servo.)

What do you guys think I can do?

Agree as above mentioned on trying to re-bind. I'd also add that this is similar to what I experienced recently ( same ESC) although I didn't switch steering/ esc wires... and came to discover that I had a short at one of the motor wires. I did everything I could think of prior to jiggling the motor wires and couldn't find the issue but eventually I found that there was a bad solder joint at one of the bullet connectors. Re-soldered it and was good to go after recalibration of the transmitter. So be sure to check/ inspect your connections if re-binding doesn't work.

I can't get the remote into binding mode.
The instructions say to hold the REV button while turning on the remote to enter binding mode, but when I do that it just turns on normally and binds with the receiver...

It sounds like it's binding then. So that problem is solved.

Does the motor still not operate with throttle input? Either direction?

If your radio is binding and still no throttle response I would target the receiver as the likely culprit. Do you have another RX to swap in for troubleshooting?
