My New Power Wagon

well after many months of deciding i finally got another electric truck..i originally started with a tct-1 years ago and to modernize it would have cost more than a new truck so with some christmas money i finally decided on the power wagon version of the scx-10..

started out with some irok super swampers mounted on pro10 beadlocks from rc4wd. got some of the metal links from vanquish coming since the plastic ones are a little flimsy.

little comparison with the stock wheels.

no action shots yet since i'm waiting for my lipo battery and charger to show up. but i did try one of my nimh left over from the txt-1 and she's quick off the line.

little torn between the vanquish currie axles and the regular ones they offer. might just go with the regular ones they offer along with the locker setup..

probably going to vinyl wrap the body since i like anything other than red.

don't know if i want to label this a build thread but future progress will be posted here.

they are pretty nice and i can't wait for the snow to go away so i can get them dirty.. took it out for a little snow venture today and the tires performed well in the snow. the beadlocks were a PITA to put together. i used a couple of long machine screws through the big holes to suck it together and then put the little hub screws in.

ordered some vanquish lockers to remove the slop that the stock ones leave..

also ditched the plastic links and got some vanquish links along with the axial ones for the steering. i'll get some outside pics soon since the ones inside my house are kinda boring.

4 3/4ish vs 4 3/8ish for the stock tires.. they are 1.9 based tires along with the rims.
I like the looks, How do they perform?
The added height make it top heavy. I noticed with a 5mm lift on stock wheel tire (my powerwagon) I have a easier roll over vs the stock honcho.

for the quick run in the snow i did they performed well. dug down well and when the truck broke through the crusty top layer of snow it dug itself out pretty easily.. between the wheels and tires it adds a little weight down below. i'm looking forward to using them in the dirt but that won't happen for a few months.

i'm looking for a good way to add weight on the axle level. also probably going to get a higher turn motor and some other way to slow it down a little bit..with my 3s lipo it's pretty fast. kinda looking for more of a trail truck/crawler out of this one.

probably not the final setup i will keep but in the mean time it will do and since everything is buried under 4' of snow i'm not going to be doing any outside rc'ing anyways..

waiting on a couple parts for the front axle but the back one is complete..i went with this style since i had already spent the money on the stock replacement links from vanquish so rather than spending even more money..i'm happy with them. they are pretty decent axles.

added some rc rock armor bumpers. the front is on it's way. drilled some tiny holes and mounted the tow hooks on the rear.

went with king shocks. bought some superlift shocks too as another option too but for now the king shocks will ride.

the camera wants to focus on the wrong thing so until i can get it outside without snow.

i changed the radio to a Futaba 4pks so when ever i can find a vanquish dig i can make this thing have selectable 4wd and add a winch later on.

i should get some new pics soon..finally got the link mounts for the front axle so that went in. picked up some vanquish omf beadlocks with the holy beadlock rings. still waiting for the snow to melt so i can get outside. heard back from vanquish and the dig unit won't be available till late spring so..

well almost a year later and except for the wheels which got changed to vanquish OMF's a few weeks after the above pics were taken. and recently i decided to 6x6 it. i just moved the vanquish axle to the rear and used the old stock axles to make the middle one.

still gotta do some shock tuning but otherwise it's performing well. i'm picking up another power wagon bed to make my version of the dodge t-rex..if i don't like the look of the bed's i'll go flatebed.

thanks.

the only other thing i might change is the front c-hubs.. there really isn't much stock stuff left on this thing..the axle shafts and drive shafts and frame rails are about the only stock things left.

Go take a look at my 6x6 build thread. Might be some inspiration for designs in there. Cool truck!!
