Well, who better than to BEAT "Your Mom" than:

Introducing: YO DADDY

This is one of two clods I am building. The next one is for the World Build Off that will remain secret.
Three things I wanted to accomplish with this rig: Super light weight. Super low CG. Super ground clearance. I achieved all three.
Things that I gained in addition to the three are things I have learned through trial and error and advice from others.
By keeping the track width very narrow, I can turn on a dime with out tire scrub, etc. By using smaller lighter tires and wheels, among other materials, I have ultimate wheel speed and control. This complete set up will do things that Slyther can only dream of!!! No joke! :flipoff: The truck only sits at about 7 inches tall. It weighs, without batteries and electronics, at about 3lbs!!!!!!!!!!

You'll have to wait till tomorrow for pictures! haha :flipoff:

And you have to wait another few months to see clod number 2: The X

Cleaned up my first post.
Wondered why everyone thought it was so light.
I meant to say 3lbs without batts and electronics.
That includes motors, esc, batteries, etc.
Fully loaded, it's around 5 or 6 pounds. I'll have to weigh it again now that its finished.
Some ways I saved weight:
Super light aluminum links but still 5/8 inch, and they are fairly short
Stampede front aluminum shocks, about 3 inchers, very short, no outer springs
Tiny chassis. Hardly any thing to it.
Super light Proline Tires
Super light RPM, standard offset wheels, no foam, no rock rings, etc
Hardly any body but a new one is on the way
No body posts. Using velcro pieces to retain body.
Shaved axles and removed some hardware, etc
Minimal wiring and connectors
55turn motors are on the way
8 tooth pinions
Extra small Plastic servo mounts and plates
Steering links are hollow
Shortest screws possible used throughout truck
Thinking of running plastic geared servos
Looking at using smaller, lighter esc and receiver

Dirk... in the cycling world (where I happen to come from) you would be called a "weight weenie". That means a roadie, a dude who weighs his socks, shaves his legs, and buys the lightest spandex. He counts grams on his bike, and blows his nose to save weight. He is a loser.

All told, I can't wait to see it. The bodies on your clods keep getting shorter and shorter. Why don't you just run them with a buggy body and get it over with?

I am also from the cycling world and I'll tell you there are mountain gram counters as well. But probably not quite as many.

I really need to finish my clod. I have the axles, wheels and tires, lathe motors, and some of the chassis done. I still need link mounts and links. Hey Digs, you have any spares you don't need? I'm looking to build this thing for almost free. I plan on giving it to my 11 year old nephew. Com'on help a jobless brotha out. :mrgreen:

5-6lbs. pritty soon were gonna need some sort of foam tires to get any traction. :mrgreen:

I appologize for being such a loser. Or.....are you the loser.....who is always behind the guy that shaves his legs and blows his nose!!!! :lol: :lol: :lol: In the mean time.....you can "blow" me!!!! :flipoff:
 
Ok.....here's some pics.

I like this first one because you can get an idea of the proportions of this truck as it sits next to Slyther 2. You can see that the top of the cab sits below the hood of Slyther 2! The chassis sits below the Moab tires on Slyther 2 but there is still tons of clearance with the high clearance links. The battery can ride low in the center or I can run cells on the axles.
As Kaetwo mentioned, the Mashers may be the best tire out there. They are a tad small, at 6 inches but they are the lightest tire I have ever had....and combined with the RPM wheel, they hardly weigh anything at all!

Keep in mind that I built this truck for one thing: Slick Rock/Red Rock.
You don't need much clearance and suspension for our types of courses that we have been running, like at Flat Irons, Red Rocks, Moab, etc. You DO need agility!!! and that is what this truck has. For the big boulder courses, etc, I have Slyther that can tackle that...but Yo Daddy is made for the slick rock! :flipoff:
