NC60 axles by BowHouse RC

Awesome. Did you run beef tubes in the prototype axles? If not, maybe they aren't needed and are durable as is....hmmmmmmmmm

I didn't run anything in the prototype axles. In fact, I like them with a little flex (and by a little, I really do mean hardly any). I don't recommend a rigid no slop locker. If you use a regular locker with a little slop, you have some give and the housing takes the abuse instead of the metal internal axle and locker.

It was a fortunate side effect of the design. There's just enough give that it has increased durability and compliance. That's the huge benefit of the material we are using, it's slick, tough, and strong.

and I can x1000 on the slick, tough, and robust part.

the material and process shapeways uses to make these parts is second to none. the material literally slides. doesn't gouge. hardly scratches inless you cut it with your 10lb truck on a sharp rock. but nonetheless.. its really durable stuff.

im gonna try the incision spools at first. I may just go with stock lockers. we will see.

I will post a "how-to" install on a stockish scx10.

but then they will be used for my sporty build short after in a few weeks.

everybody needs to upgrade to these axles like pronto.

...some might say I need to get off yalls shaft. but having had stuff of my own printed by shapeways.. I stand behind this product 250 percent.

Thanks for the vote of confidence! We haven't released any shaft products yet, so I think you're ok. LOL :lmao:

Good to know! And not if I do a step by step first

I am asking mostly for added weight in front.

Do any of the Beeftube or similar products work with your products.

They are designed with same internal size as AR60 so they will fit. David is getting a set if brass tubes (to go with his brass... Well, you know) and will include those in the next build.

keep the rear scx10 width. unless its a scaler. then you could.. cut down long wraith sides. simple dremel work.

bowhouse is gonna recognize me as a regular now lol. so many parts.

Got a case of deja vu when I read this quote.:lmao:

If these axles are all they are cracked up to be as I expect them to be...I know at least 2 other rigs of mine that could use them to get rid of those pesky stock axials that have the xr10 mod done to them.

As for different width axles on a rig....no sporty's or comp rigs here so that wouldn't do me much good. Custom widths/offset pumpkins (I know, need custom axle shafts but as mentioned...this isn't hard to do) on the other hand. 8)

Crawlingman, you and I seem to be filling this thread up :lmao:

I know.. im actually a bit surprised nobody else has chimed in yet. maybe because the new scx10 II came out, and there is hardly any comp guys left lurking once in awhile. or... not many people have had a shapeways product in their hand.

there was once.. I think it was a sporty named margoulliat or something on here from a guy outside of us. he has been using shapeways or a printer similar? (same material)

great lengthy build.

and as far as screws into this housing.... do not overtighten. snug as a bug in a jug in the flood is good enough. otherwise you might run em through the housing and will have to replace it. like a ar60 housing.

The extra widths won't be too bad. The biggest thing is figuring out where the link mounts need to go for whatever width people want. We don't want to do custom axle after axle. We will do an XR width but can't promise a release date yet.

These things were tested in the field for more than 6 months to make sure that I was happy with durability and performance. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure someone will find a way to break something, but they are definitely a lot stronger than stock.

Also, once you get past a certain length/width there may be need for a truss. Not sure yet though. Haven't run the FEA on a wide axle. For the XR width, we may do that and just suggest you get tubes anyway. I'd think that most people doing that width will want the extra weight.

Do you have any pics of a side-by-side with the stock axle? Curious what the difference in the pumpkin height is.

Well just got my tracking info from shapeways, meaning my axles and related parts are on their way!

Guess we will see which factory they ship out of, hopefully the Seattle hub since I'm west coast.

EDIT: Tracking shows it shipped from New York and will arrive Thursday.

Any possibility of getting a side by side comparison picture of these next to stock SCX10 axles?"thumbsup"

I will when they arrive Thursday.

Have SSD's, VP scx10s, TKO10s, stock axial axles with narrow xr10 mod, narrowed ar60s (2 sets at different widths, 1 at RC4wd K44 width and 1 custom) I can compare against. "thumbsup"

Granted they are all installed on rigs...:lmao:

Anything specific you are looking for? May not have time that night to do ALL the axles.
