I have a newer Lap top and it has Vista as a OS and I tried using the WMM but am not able to crop the video. I tried twei-stein software, but that didnt work at all. I also tried something else, dont recall what it was called and it worked awesome, but wouldnt save the same and I couldnt upload it onto Youtube. Anyone know of a good software (doesnt have to be free, but under $50) that I could use. I have a sony handycam and a go-pro cam that I'd like to use this program on. Mainly for the go-pro though.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Sony Vegas is awesome.

Here's a link to Sony Creative Studios "Vegas Product Family," which you can download free trials (I believe 30-day?) for Vegas Movie Studio HD 9 ($44.95), Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10 ($94.95), and Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10 Production Suite ($124.95).

Try it and see what you think. If you like it, buy it. :)

Cheers,
Kyle

Yeah I think I'm going to give pinnacle 12 a try. It's only $15 on amazon

What do you mean by "crop" the video? Trying to create a letterbox style effect? Or are you just trying to preserve a 16:9 ratio?

When you export the video it should ask you or at least give you an option on how you want to export the video...... at least it should. Most cameras now days shoot in 16:9 aspect ratio or at least allow you to pick between 19:9 and 4:3. Although HD videos will be 16:9.
