i am brand new to the RC world and have picked up a second hand AX 10 scorpion from axial. i have stripped some teeth in the steering servo so i picked up a new savox sc-0251mg servo. still got the AR-3 rx and the AX-3 controler but its got a strange esc called GV racing. and the motor have no markings on it.
im planing on getting a new 55t motor and the ax5 esc from axial (think thats what they are called) but atm ive put the new savox servo in and its turning fine but more one way then the other. is there an easy way to get it centered?
the main issue atm is the new servo is shuddering a small amount when the esc is turned on but im not giving any steering signals. why is this and how can i stop it.

thanks.

If your radio isn't on when you turn on the ESC, it can glitch since it is getting power but no signals.

Is this your ESC?

Not sure what kind of internal BEC it has, but it probably isn't enough to feed a Savox, they're very power hungry. I would suggest an external BEC, either Castle Creations or HeyOK.
As for centering the servo, see if you can adjust the steering trim and get it, or you may need to take the horn off, center the servo, and reattach the horn.

thanks, no that dosnt look like my esc.
so i should wait till i get the AE-5 esc then, will i need a BEC with that?
thanks

Savox servos are noisy when power is applied, the servo is constantly trying to center itself. The noise is normal.

noise is not an issue. i think my motor or gears are very noisy then if you say that cause the servo noise output is nothing.
how do i stop it trying to center its self?
thanks.

Yes, the AE ESCs don't put out enough volts to keep a savox happy either.
There is usually a small amount of noise associated with those servos as hotwheels said. Nature of their digital servo lineup. I was under the initial impression it was constantly glitching on you like mine did til I put a BEC in.

not sure best way to describe it. but yea it is always in a constant back and forth twitching action regardless on any input or no input as long as power is on.
sorry this is my first car ever. sounds like i need an external BEC. as long as the wife donst know it wont hurt her. what one do u recommend? and which site to buy from? im in Australia and prefer to cover the heavy use and waterproofing areas as i know my son will be rough with it.
Thanks again.

The Castle Creations 10A is what I use, you'll need the programmer to set the voltage output via PC. It can be waterproofed by putting a dollop of what we call Shoe Goo here in the States in the ends of the wrap that covers the components.

Castle has also come out with a water lroof version kf the old BEC, its about double in price but also handles more voltage and has more amp handli g capacity.

You could also get ahold of heyok on this board, he has a no brainer bec circuit that is a breze to install and no need to program it. Its plug and play.

Search heyok as user name or no brainer in the text box, he has a large thread in the electronics section.

Not sure if if I understand the issue you are having. Is it the motor or servo twitching ?

Here are few other things you can try.

If its motor make sure your esc is set to brushed or brushless... what ever matches the motor.

If it is the servo, look into your programing on the radio. Some radios have settings for digital or analog servos

its the servo that is twitching. i will have a look into all these things and see how i go. thanks for the help so far

ok so after some playing around i have got the servo to stop moving on its own (twitching left and right). but if i hold my ear real close i can hear what sounds like the servo moving (very low nosies but no actual movement. is this normal?
also i have tryed a few different things to center the steering but it always turns more to the right than left regardless of what i have tryed.

I would look into a hobby wing 1080 esc over the ae5 itsvwater proof and has a good bec built in I am getting ready to instal mine without my castle external bec and see what happens the esc are the same price
