I did not intend to get a Rally car, it just kinda happened!:lmao:

I got a smokin' deal on the new Traxxas 1/10 Rally. Drove it once with the brushed set up and knew it was not gonna do it for me. So, over the past week I've upgraded and or replaced just about everything possible. Kinda negates the smokin' deal thing.......I know. Anyway, below is a list and some pics of what I've done so far.

STRC Front and Rear shock towers
Traxxas Big Bores
Traxxas sway bar kit
Traxxas aluminum turnbuckles
Traxxas aluminum C-Hubs, Knuckles, and Rear Carriers
STRC aluminum wheel hexes
Converted to the Traxxas Aluminum drive shaft versus the stock plastic unit
Traxxas aluminum motor bulkhead/plate
Spektrum receiver (relocated to upper/front chassis)
HiTec 5565MH servo
TLR aluminum servo horn
STRC aluminum bell crank
Hot Racing Roll Cage / Chassis stiffner
Traxxas HD slipper unit (I may end up going center diff - we'll see)
Traxxas aluminum diff bearing carrier
Castle Mamba X ESC and Motor Combo (SCT 3800kv)

Once they're back in stock, I'm going to pick up a clear body and my intent is to do a WRC tribute car paint scheme.

I've been looking for info on different wheel and tire combos though, so if anyone has any suggestions, let me know. (I did order a set of Duratrax Banditos for Tarmac driving.)

Haha, I'm looking at picking one up too! I have a Castle Mamba Monster X + 1515 sensorless motor ready to go into one....

It should be a fun rig when I’m done. It definitely needs the motor/esc upgrade. The brushed system is sloooooooow!

Just picked up and installed the 1/8 17mm wheel adapter kit and GRP S4 compound tarmac wheels/tires are on the way. The Mamba X and 3800kv are scooting this little rig pretty darn good with 13/54 gearing. For general driving and bashing, it's about perfect with that ratio. Just for grins, I installed an 18T pinion today just to check some potential. Wow. It definitely starts getting silly on the top end. It was pretty cool out and motor temps stayed low. I'm thinking a motor fan, some taller gearing and 4s is next. I don't intend to make it a dedicated speed rig, but sure is fun seeing what it'll do. I didn't put the GPS on it with the 18T pinion, but I'm guessing I got every bit of 48mph. When it drys out more, I'll log the top speed with the GPS to confirm.

Welp, here they is all mounted up and lookin saaaaaweeeeeeet! Love how they fill the wheel wells out. These things should be sick on the tarmac!"thumbsup"

3S or 4S with those tires must be fantastic! I was only able to run mine with 3S on the Primes for a short amount of time since the Sidewinder paired with the SCT 3800 liked to get hot.

Yeah, it was pretty sick. I agree, I almost pulled the trigger on a sidewinder set up, but started looking at specs and realized it would probably get hot like that. The Mamba X seemed to be the sweet spot."thumbsup"

And in dirt trim! She's a dirt and gravel slinging maniac with these!

It's hard to believe this is the same Rig! You've got to love the versatility of this Traxxas platform! A little Rally to Baja Bug conversion with 1/8 offroad "shoes". What I really like as well is the fact that I can swap this vehicle back and forth between Rally and Baja Bug in less than 10 mins. Crazy. This should be a fun little basher in this trim!

Trying on some different "shoes" on the Traxxas Rally to Baja Bug conversion. Just love the fact that this little car can go back and forth from Rally to Short Course weapon in 5-10 mins. Added an 1/8 scale buggy wing out back as well.

I like it with the white wheels. I think you nailed it!

Thanks Jato! I'm pretty pleased with it at this point. Now, I just have to wait for all this damn snow to melt so I can go shake it down at the track! Still have some fine adjustments to do to camber, etc - but I think it's close as I used my set-up sheet from my old Slash. There's a place up the road that does indoor carpet series, but it's all SPEC class on slash based stuff, so I'd have to dumb it back down to the brushed motor, esc, which I don't really want to do. Hoping they have an "open" practice night or just a free run day."thumbsup"

Nice Mike!!! Didn't know you were into this too. TT-02R, that I'm sure needs longer front Shocks.... I've only Run it twice since I built it, at the local "off-road" Track (clay). It looked funny with no Body, but I had to find out what it might need next. I only have ONE Body in mind, the Tamiya 240Z Rally! My first Car was a 240Z, and this will eventually be a tribute.....
I've got TIME, I've been buying this Car piece-by-piece for the past 2 years!! the Body is about the last piece of this lengthy project! It's got a TRAXX-ASS Venileon Brushless System in it, that's amazingly fast!! Sensorless, but works with this gearing.

I LOVE how versatile YOURS is! I've never seen any 1/10th Car look good with 1/8th Scale Wheels before yours. That looks nearly perfect with the White Wheels!
Actually, I really like the long arm suspension on it. All the Rallies I've seen, have been short armed, like the Tamiya. Bet it takes the rough stuff nicely.
