got a new 1/16 summit yesterday, and I'm waiting for my account to be approved over on traxxas site so I can ask there. but I figured these might be general traxxas RTR issues.

the main one is the range, within the first few mins and few roles the blue straw pulled off and ripped the small part of the antena that sticks out past the metal off. at this point I had not gotten more then 10 feet from me.

as I got better at controlling it I found the car would only go 15-20 yards before it would cut off and I'n have to get closer to it. I don;t know if this is normal, or if its caused by the already damaged antenna.

I have a skeptrum dx3c, and was wondering what kind of range I could get in the little car if I got a cheap reciever for it. or if there is a way to fix the problem with the current set up. its kind of nice having 2 controls so I can play with a friend who don't have the money for RC cars.

alright I'll give traxxas support a call and see what they say. kinda disappointed, with all the abuse I put my axials thru to have something go wrong so fast and with less abuse just seams bad. most likely it way me dumb arse that did something wrong though.

edit: called traxxas alittle while ago, told em I just got a mini summit and had rolled it and the blue plastic stray for the antenna pupped out taking the thin part of the antenna with it and my range was down to 10-15 yards. they said there was no way to fix it and they would send another out to me free of charge. this time I think I'ma say screw the straw and try and fish that long wire around the body mounts or something.

Yea hide that tip, u don't necessarily need the straw so long. They can take a beating, but keep in mind if its the VXL and you are running a 3s Lipo, you will break stuff. Get a wheelie bar if you don't already have one. My 1/16 summit would flip way too easy and now my 1/10 Summit Brushless flips on 4s. Need a wheelie bar for it. Fun trucks for sure, the 1/10 is a blast, I have 2 :-)

I'm running 2s right now because the batterys traxxas makes for these are the ones I use in my scaler. it goes pretty fast and has taken a beating in terms of tumbles. I haven;t crashed it into anything yet. in the grass I have flipped it more then a few times lol, but in the parking lot it seams to hold better, that or my battery was starting to run alittle low. not many areas I could really make use of the top speed, I think it will spend most of its time in training mode. I can handle not driving at full throttle, but the kids don't want to understand that the trigger is not an on off switch.

ok little update if anyone cares. ESC and motor seam to run hot but no ill effects yet. I stop and let it cool down while playing with it and between batterys. running in parallel stopped the batterys from getting hot.

rig rolls alot. set the preload in the front alittle more and that helped on the grass and blacktop. got some 3s batterys, on grass/blacktop it turns from a car to fast to handle well into a uncontrollable rocket lol. but at the campground, gravel sites gravel roads, seams perfect for this thing. just enough slip to the traction to allow most turns to become power slides. 3s is still scarey though not as much as alot of the power goes to throwing rocks instead of the rig itself.

ton of fun and pretty fast even on 2s training mode. kids loved it.
