New For Sale section

well i for sure like the old way, never complained about the no bumping and PMs only

This is going to sound like the stupidest question a person could ask, but "What is bumping?" That's all I've seen this thread be about. I've seen it on other forums and I still don't know what it means or does. I guess if I knew what people were talking about I would know whether or not to "vote" in the right direction.
a "Bump" makes your thread "fresh" if you will and puts it back on the top of the list. Example, if your selling things exactly like being discussed, and your stuff isn't selling as fast as you'd like you would BUMP to make your thread go back up top and catch more peoples eyes. Annoying if you ask me, back to the old!

bump

if it goes back to the old way will we have to wait 1/2 a day for the new add to show up? i like the way it shows up right away, but with out the bump.

no bumping, liked it the old way. make a poll for this, let it last for about three days or so, then make a choice. see what people really like.

Damn everyone bitched when it was the old way, now we change it and they all want it back

I was thinking the same thing, but eliminating the ability to reply really was a good idea. Ask anyone who tries selling stuff on RCTech... it's damn near impossible with all the ****ING BUMPING!

The old way was better. I hate trying to look for the new ads amongst all the bumped ones.

I agree buming is gross!

but seriously that was one of the major attractions to this site was the no bumping rule, sounds weird, but if anyone asked why i liked this site was no bumping even though i've only bought a coupla things and sold nothing here.

I have suggested this rule to other forums i inhabit, it make for a much more organized experience (like a silent auction compared to a live poorly run auction where no one is really sure what you are bidding on)

I don't remember exactly when the rules changed to allow no replies but I see all these people clamoring for the old way and wonder how many were here for it?

The "old" way is the way it was prior to a couple days ago. If anyone was talking about how it was way back when the site started...is an idiot, cause that's not what this is about.

I liked the rules of no bumping and not being able to repost the items till after the certain grace period. Not too fair if someone posts up a for sale thread, and possibly within several hours, everyone checks back to their own for sale thread and now feels the need to bump it to get ahead of everyone else...pushing this brand new thread down half a page. All it will lead to is a bump war. When enough people start bumping their threads to stay ahead of the others, new threads will very quickly end up on page 2 or even 3 before you know it.

if it goes back to the old way will we have to wait 1/2 a day for the new add to show up? i like the way it shows up right away, but with out the bump.

So what, you have to wait half a day to get your items listed. What this did was make sure no one was abusing the system. When reading a for sale ad, I for one like to see the price. The delay was for the mods to check and make sure the ad was alright to post and had the necessary info.

On allowing replies other than the OP...I see this becoming a bidding war. If someone posts up and says they'll take the item at the asked for price, people could now PM the OP and offer more. If the OP is honest, they'll tell them no and honor the asking price...but we all know not every seller is always honest. I have seen this happen, and it's happened to me.

Someone had said that there should be a rule to post up pics of the sale items. While I agree that having a pic in your ad will raise the chance of you selling it 10 fold...and can honestly say that I don't even bother to read some ads if they don't post a pic...not everyone has a camera or even the skills to take a decent pic. They shouldn't be disallowed to post up ads.

I hope you guys take it back to the previous way...I am already sick of seeing the bumps.
