New Place to Break an Axle Shaft?

So I broke off a C hub, and when I tore the axle down, I found that I had also broke one end of the pin off of the dog-bone end of my axle shaft.

I'm trying to figure out if this is an sign that I trimmed the cups too much on my Blackfoot outer axles, or is this something that happened as a side effect of snapping the C hub.

You are now hard core. :flipoff:

I would say you trimmed the outer drives too much. Besides, if you use The Crawler Store's 1" wideners you don't need to use the Blackfoot outer drives. ;-)

I also didn't trim the outers drives on my TLT last time and have yet to break a C. I used to all the time with trimmed outers. Wider is not better anymore, or using shocks and springs.  :-P

i broke that same one about two weeks ago...i was just out testing my rig and crack the axle snapped.....it sucked

The parts were new, so wear shouldn't have been an issue. Now I'm wondering if it's possible that I trimmed the stub axle too far, it bound up, and that's what caused the C hub to break? The truck did roll off the rocks and land funny, and I was a bit too slow to let off the throttle, so I guess I'll just put it back together and see if it holds up.

Wow Todd, you must have been doing some serious crawling:!: I have yet to break any inner shafts, but I did break both front outer stubs at Rimrock last weekend. Right at the end of the Gmade widener barrel nut.

i broke that 2 weeks ago with my scale truck! i landed wrong off a jump and i guess the max climber shafts dont break, its the pins that break. and when i say i landed wrong off a jump i mean i was jumping into my little rock pit and the left front tire instantly stopped with the other 3 still spinning

I actually did that at the last course of the last comp. Trying to get positioned for the last gate and fell off the rock and rolled over. Did a recovery to finish before I realized the C hub was broke. Left it sit on the shelf until this week before I decided I better get it set for next weekend, and found the broken axle when I tore it down.

OIT TLT - Glad to see I'm not the only one! Are those xtreme RC axle ends you are running?

We thought we heard something snap when you slid off that rock, but you kept going. Didn't think anything of it. That's pretty gnarly carnage.Nathan
