New SSD Front Bumper for SCX10 II

I decided to angle the quarter panel for now. I don't think it looks right to me. I can't imagine seeing a real Jeep angled like that. In the 1:1 world, people do trim straight across and through the fenders. Eventually I think I'll do that.

Due to the lights and light bar attached to my other bumpers, I had not yet installed the front until last night.

i fixed that little gap on mine just putting the body bases one hole down and done "thumbsup"

I used photoshop to see what a straight cut across the quarter panel would look like. The straight cut is more true to what would be seen on a full size XJ.

Any opinions on what looks better..?

Cut at angle:

Cut Straight:

In any case, these two pics should help others with this bumper decide which direction to go.

I am sure this new bumper is great from a functionality standpoint, but I don't like the look at all. The wedge shape works on the front but doesn't look good on the back. I would rather give up a bit on the exit angle to have something that looks more realistic, like a simple box profile aluminium bumper which protrudes less than the stock bumper

I used images of 1:1 aftermarket Cherokee crawler rear bumpers to model the SSD rear bumper. If the height of the bumper was kept the same as the stock bumper then it would defeat the whole purpose of it really.

I suppose it all comes down to personal taste. I understand why you wanted to do it that way.
Do you have any plans to offer alternative designs for those that don't want the chopped look? I think a more traditional design would be popular for those that aren't oriented towards technical rock crawling, but still want a high quality bumper.

That looks great.
Just need the bottom part of the tailgate to touch the bumper and would be even better.
I just got my kit body today to start working on.

Yes, I didn't cut that. I paid a body painter and well that is what I got.

Need a better body painter/cutter...

Yeah I remember you saying that.
That sucks.
I really do dislike cutting these bodies. Its the worst. Lol

I've just received my SSD front bumper and I think there's been a machining error or is it me ?
The fairlead slot measures 35mm from one shackle holder and 45mm from the other , cant believe I've waited so long and I still cant complete this build .
Has anybody else had this problem ?
