New steering servo damages ESC?

Hey im new to the forum, glad i joined lots of good info. Ive had my mini for a couple of months and 3 weeks ago my steering quit the receiver light would just blink and the throttle would wouldnt work right with servo plugged in so I thought it was the servo and upgraded it to a hs 5245, didnt fix it so i called losi and they sent me a new receiver still no fix and now there sending me a new pro transmitter (stock one on backorder) and from reading the post it sounds like that wont fix it either, and i need a new esc, the bad thing is losi said if the transmitter dosn't fix it that i will have to send it in for one of there techs to fix it, its great there gonna fix it but it just sux that im gonna have to wait a couple more weeks before its fixed

Mine did the same a few months back.

Sounds like the internal BEC on the ESC has died, mine did exactly the same.
A work around is to use an external BEC (About £7 ($10 i guess)).

I wired an external BEC up, removed the red middle wire from the lead (ESC to RX) and all seemed well.
You might find if you put power (try 4 or 5 volts) to the RX red/black pins without the ESC plugged in, try your steering, it should be fine.

[For those that don't know, the ESC powers the RX through the red + wire on the ESC to RX plug. Remove this wire to prevent the ESC from trying to power the RX when using a BEC. Also I think when it burned out, the red wire was causeing interferance maybe causing the RX to go haywire, or maybe the RX is not getting proper power from the burnt ESC, either way, a BEC fixed it for me]

Mine gave up when I was in a bind, (running an uprated Hitec mini servo) - It stopped responding (a feint smell of burnt electrics too if you took a sniff at the esc).

I eventually bought a new esc, but still have the burnt esc in my spares.

Not sure if that helps you out at all?

Thanks I may try that if losi decides to make me ship it to them, Im hoping I can talk them into sending me an esc since its then only thing left to replace.
