New to me exceed crawler

Ok guys I'm fairly new to rc and brand new to crawlers. Got my exceed mad torque today to kind of get my feet wet. 1st thing was taking lights off. When plugged everything back in everything works fine but sometimes when turn controller off the truck ramps to full speed and takes off???? Any ideas? Would like to figure out because it hurts lol

disconnect the battery first then then TX. when you turn the TX off first the truck loses signal and thats why it takes off.

Hoping to continue with thread so dont have to make another for questions. I wish i would have gotten a pic today but i can tomorrow when i get off in am. On the exceed controller, what are all of the adjustments under the cover? I understand the servo center and the throttle somewhat on the side but under the cover there are a handful im just having to play with to get an understanding and would like to know for sure as id really like to start dialing this rig in an upgrade it. Like it so far but do see the need for upgrades.
Also im not able to get both of my front and rear servos( 4ws) to center together. any suggestions there?? Thanks and sorry for the newb questions but couldnt find answer in any searches.

I believe you have a transmitter that is a based on the Flysky gt2 transmitter.
