New Venom Switch Back Tires

What kind compound do they have?

I can see that working pretty good on some types of terrain....if the compound is good. Some added sipes in the treads might help side hilling some.

Just by looking at them they look like they would have nice forward bite but Im not sure how useable they would be for sidehilling. Interesting tho.

At first site they remind me of a rock claw.

Like most tires do that have hollow lugs.

That's what concerns me about the tires. The little hollow lugs on any tire tend to load up easy when terrain gets a little moisture in it. Wheelspeed helps that to a certain point. Hollow lugs IMHO,around here, are kindly a drawback certain times of the year...like right now. Some areas aren't really effected by that though. I wouldn't mind trying a set myself. Might be a good option in the summertime

Does anybody know the size of these? Tower says 5"(127 mm) but on the side of the tire it says 140x55x2.2. If that is true 140 mm is 5.5" which I would rather see:mrgreen:

Interesting design. I agree that some siping minght be in order to help the sidehilling

5" tall huh? Interesting. The math doesn't work out that way so I would be interested in seeing them.

Guessing you have to use their Beadlox wheels for these too like their other tires.

I wasn't aware of that. If that's true,I think that would be a mistake on someones behalf. Limiting a tire to only one rim is going to limit sales a ton.

I've never seen a Venom wheel or tire up close.....anyone have a picture,up close, mainly of the bead area of the wheel and tire? You kinda got me curious now as to why they won't work with other wheels.

I'd bet other wheel vendors would be interested to see it as well. If there's a way to make a small change to the bead areas of our wheels to allow ALL tires to be used....it'd be very justified. I highly doubt many would build a completely different wheel for one tire alone.

Venoms rim & beadlock doesn't work well with other tires. It was hard trying to keep the bead sealed on teh Rovers. I had to use some self-taping screw that where a little longer to get some bite on them.

Their rim & beadloc has a ridge/valley that matches specially with their tires.

Sounds like the issue is mainly the bead area of the Venom tires is just thinner than most????? If that's the case,I'd bet money my locks would hold them easily.

Still be interested to see a picture. I would like to find out for sure."thumbsup"

Hmmm, good picture....thanks. I'll have to try and get a set to try them and make sure. I do believe my locks would hold that with no problems at all.

X2 on that one. I get scared every time I have to remove a tire from my 1911's. I've often thought about removing the rings and seeing how long it takes for the tires to pull themselves free on the rocks. I bet I'd get pretty far.
