it is a 100% working warn 8274, 1/10 scale with it's own motor, free spool and engage, wire, fairlead and hook. stay tuned !!!!............................

The builder is swamped with work at his real job right now so the development has been delayed a few weeks but as soon as he has time to get back on it I will be doing some testing. That prototype on my tailgate is fully functional except for the free spool function.
Like Ben said, they will be available from Montana Scale Designs before too long so start saving now. Based on the reaction from the guys in Montana, the first batch will go fast.;-)
Plans for an XD9000i style are also being looked at.;-)
 
Sometimes I just think Grizz likes to see grown men drool like babies! You should have seen the line at the back of his truck in Montana, I thought he was breaking out the "Taco........ Salad"

Last I heard, Chris's friend is still very busy so they are still delayed.
 
I would like to see someone make a spool that you can attach to the servo and call it a day. RC4WD or another vendor. Something simple that you just screw one piece onto the server and call it a day, similar to what bracysdad posted. The servo Im using is plenty strong and doesnt need geared down, it would be way to slow then, I just want a spool that spins nice and true and looks good. Right now Im using a couple round servo horns and a big plastic bushing thing from the bellcrank steering on a t-maxx as a spool. Works fine, but but has a slight wobble to it since the pieces arent made to fit together.

The 8274 would look really huge on an F350 Hilift body. The winch is a 1/7th scale winch so it's pretty big but that is as compact as he could make it. It looks real good on an 1/8th scale body such as a Bronco, Rubicon, D90, etc.

BD, I baught a modified TowerPro 945MG Winch Servo from JohnRobHolmes. I haven't gotten it hooked up yet but it looks like it'll be just right for hardcore use."thumbsup" I know this response a little late and you probably already know by now but just thought I'd add since I haven't seen anyone mention it in this thread yet.

Oh and these 1/10 8274's look killer...I want one ASAP!:shock:

here's mine I built it took about an hour and it rolls with the line so it looks sort of real. All parts from hardware store and a little welding. Sorry for the bad pics. There are more somwere on this site on the montana scale event pages. It will pick the jeep off the ground. Or somone elses rig....

The rotation is only 2 to 6 revolutions on those sail winch servos. Not enough to get a rig unstuck. The drums won't hold much line either.

The Holmes Hobbies winch is a much better deal if you don't want to make your own.
