I´m currently searching for a new crawler and i´m a bit lost.
I thought the Bergs are expensive but the Newage sells for $240.
What will i need to make it running.
I already have a 3ch radio.
Obviously i need 2 motors but don´t understand how the dig will work on this and if i need 2 or 1 ESC?!?!?

Is it really better than a Losi Comp?
Or those crawlers sold and RC4WD.com apart from Bully.

I am new too but from what I understand the dig would utilize the 3rd channel of your radio... id imagine its a servo. Kinda like the nitro trucks that have reverse... Just figuring.

1 esc and motors will attach to the Punkrc dig. It's an easy set up.

The dig does use the third channel. There are two types of digs for MOA rigs there is a servo one that consists of a servo that controls two switches and the other is digital.

As for the Berg setup itself the $250 you are paying is just for the axels. You will need a chassis, a steering set up, the pinions for the motors, all of the electronics, of course the rims and tires and whatever else you want. I think that so far I have about $400 invested into my Berg."thumbsup"

The kit is a good way to get up and running. Ya can upgrade as ya go. Ya will need a steering servo (something 300oz +), 2 motors (45t good starting point), one esc running two motors and a 2 channel radio to get going with out dig. In order to run front and rear dig ya will need either, one esc, a dig switch and 3 channel radio with a three position switch or two esc and a 4+ channel radio that allows individual control and mixing of the throttle channel.

So is it a good kit above average or is it equal to Losi or the ARTR Axial for example?
What's wrong with the chassis?

Is it durable as a kit(regarding axles and gears)?

I made a short list of things to get for it and want your thoughts:
-Newage kit $240
-Tekin fxr with 2x55t tekin motors. I don't know if it can handle 2 motors.
Do i have any cheaper options for these?
-HB rover soft tires
-Baja body
-And get the punk dig later on.

It is an awsome kit. I ran a v1 Berg kit for a while & it was fine. It dosen't matter what you buy there always seems to be something better out there. You have to start somewhere & this would be one of the best starting points any newbie could get with minimum investment. After you get it drive it for a while like it is. Then you will find options that you want like maybe a different chassis , links , shocks or whatever.
FXR will handle 2 motors but I would go with 35t instead of 55t. Put it on 3s lipo with a BEC for your steering servo. You will be impressed. Get the punk dig before you try to comp with it. You will hate yourself if you don't.

Is the newage a V2 berg?
What about the axles breaking as discussed on other threads?
Also parts prices and availability is said to be an issue...??

Newage , Enroute , Berg , OCM is all the same crawler. There are 2 versions. V1 is the old version most of us are using & v2 is the new version some people are trying. There is not a parts availability problem for eathier but some people fear the v1 may go out. There are many aftermarket parts for them so don't be scared. You can find parts at The Crawler Store (TCS) or AMAIN hobbies. The V1 is a proven axle & has won the WORLDS for the past 2 or 3 years straight."thumbsup"

The kit for @$260 are V1 axles (berg/enroute/newage all the same). Ya can get up and running pretty cheap and upgrade later. A good lowbuck no dig set up imho would be; cc sidewinder $80, ccbec $20, integy 45t motors X2 $40, hobbyco c170 $90, rhino/zippy 3s lipo $20 and a set of rovers $30. Total @$550. Not really much more than building a decent artr or losi and it will run circles around them (yes even with the stock kit). Ya could build a dig switch setup for @$30 and have front and rear dig too!
They are no worse breaking axles (or anything else) than an axial or losi (both of which are great axle breakers). Parts are alittle harder to get but they are only a couple/three days away from your mailbox.8)

I was thinking more for an outcut Esc from rc4wd which provides good power to the servo although i don't have any reviews on it. Ckrc has the rovers for 9.99, 2 tekin 35 motors, a cheap lipo 3s and a body. I already have a 180oz servo.

Integy 35t motors are cheaper , about $17 apiece at TCS. 180oz servo will get you started but your gonna want 300oz or more. Don't forget a BEC.

I have a few more Q's.
1)How do axles break and at what 'point' on the axle?
2)Do these break because of too much torque or speed?
3)35 or 45 motors ...will they have much difference?? Which will work better on the newage?
4)Is this as durable as i hear Axials are?
5)Any mods i have to make on it to work better?

1)Most Berg axles I've seen break at the pin on the end.
a new set of stock axles is only $8
2)Mostly from a hard bind or bounce or a sudden shock from a fall when someone didn't let off the trigger. Full speed & full torque + sudden stop = break
3) Most people run 35t on 3s lipo , some even run 4s
4) Axials are very durable after many upgrades but I have beat on my Berg & kept going where my Axial would have broken.
5) you dont have to but the biggest upgrade now for most people I think would be the super 300 cvd axles. They are expensive but will never break. Hint: I'm not running them & don't worry about breaking. Throttle control"thumbsup"

Hope this helps

In another thread they say that the bully axles are stronger and i would be better going with a complete build but i would think this will get expensive wouldn't it,... buying separated parts?

I just went through this same thing with my first berg build. Like many others have said you will need two motors (I am running 45t integy's on a 3s lipo) and a castle creations sidewinder. I built a dig switch which there is a sticky in the berg forum on how to build one. I have a blue bird 630mg servo which was $25 from bp hobbies and I needed a cc bec to get it to work. If you put 1/2" limiters in the stock shocks and buy a few dollars worth of tubing and a 3mm tap/drill set, you can make a new set of upper links set to 2.4 inches. This will "clock" you axles and rotate the motor/transmission up so it doesn't drag on everything. Take the stock steering linkage and put a traxxas ball end above knuckles to raise the tie rod and mount your servo horn pointed up then use a little left over tubing to make a new drag link and you'll have a pretty cheap high steer solution. These mods and a good set of wheels and tires (stock bergs are too wide....but they make great ax10 wheels) and you'll have good running rig without getting a ton of money tied up in it. The stock chassis could be better if they would trim it back and move the lower links inside...but it works.

The Bully is stronger out of the box but the Berg isnt a weakling. If you are willing to spend the money neither one will ever break. The old cast version of the Bully was too heavy so few people ran it. The new machined light weight version makes it a hard decision between it & a Berg. You can't go wrong with eathier one . It can get expensive building piece by piece. Get a star & look in the for sale section for a used rig. I got my Berg for $360. I installed my Tx/Rx & was playing 30 minutes after I opened it."thumbsup"

I'm doing my best!!!!!
So even if i buy the newage kit i'll still have to buy new wheels and chassis in order to do average comp.?
