Nope, kit for me. The more I read the more it looks like the DF03RA is the kit to get, Ball Diffs and full ball bearings. Not finding good info on the battery situation though. They all (DF01 and DF03 have stick battery compartments and I am hearing that hardcase Lipos won't fit and since that is all I have I may have to rethink this.

It can take hardcase 2S lipos.
As to the Rally... I suppose that for those with 3S 1000mah or so LiPos for crawling, they should work in the small Rally battery compartments and if you run them parallel they should provide enough for a couple of runs.
