Yeah, they do mostly 2.2 comps.
They've invited all of us out and vise versa.
I believe War Trader was a member until he was bit by the scale bug... now he sold all his compers and is building a couple of Wraiths

They have threads in the Illinois forum too... maybe not as talkative here as we are. They have a comp this Sat. I do believe in Orland Park. In the summer they also do some of their comps at Busse Woods.

Personally I started with them, but didnt really compete. Then I went and met these people and they were doing things in the mud, water, etc. That was far more interesting to me. :)

A few of us are still registered with them, they really are the only Comp rig club around but they also do scale. The primarily focus on events in Orland Park and south. Joliet, Morris and down to Kankakee.

Jetboat is the easiest person to contact on RCCrawler.

My very uneducated understanding of the situation is that NIRC & SCRC are at WAR! and if we all happen to be in the same comp spot at the same time, it'll turn into a big brawl like in Anchorman.. And then all the other clubs from the surrounding area will show up and join in! Last club standing wins!

Well I saw that most of their events were at hobbytown in Orland so I drove all the way down there to check out the course. I don't know about you guys but I think I'd get bored pretty quick driving around on that little pile of rocks over and over again every other weekend. That was a long haul for me, I guess I was expecting more. Ha, I may just be provoking the war here!

Well there are some decent rocks at Busse. I know they have a some good spots down south, but it is a long haul for some of us up this way.

We have two spots we usually use, either the Busse spots, or one in Roselle. But Neil may have found another spot up by him, which would be a nice change of pace!

Got my IRoks and mounted them up. I am losing a barely discernible amount of height and about 3/8 inches in width. That is by real measurements, not Manufacturers specs, which of course are all that count.

Pro-Line 2.2 Flatirons - Height 4.84" (123MM) - Width 2.15" (55MM)
RC4WD 1.9 IRoks - Height 4.65" (118MM) - Width 1.75" (44.5MM)

and here are the pics.

the combination of the loss of 3/8" width and another 1/4" off set change, I have lost 7/8" in track width. But at least I lost no height because they are the same height.

JHT, have you found anywhere good to run?

Well really the only spot I've gone in the forest preserve/park near Foster and the Edens Expressway. Its a pretty good spot though, lots of back woods trails, water and mud. There are also some decent elevation changes and hills to climb back there. It's a huge park too, trails go way back in there. One spot has all of these big concrete blocks that have slid down a hill toward the creek, its a pretty good challenge to crawl up them. But since I haven't been out with you guys yet I don't have a scale of reference. It may seem like a good spot to me but not be what you're looking for. I'll have something to compare it to come Sunday.

I have only walked a very short part of the trails by me. As soon as we get another freeze, I would like to have a couple people come up and we can walk/drive the length of the ravine and drag some logs out and into our way and see what there is to do. Looks like this would be a great place for a G6.

Any volunteers to come to the Frozen North?

You can't prove I was a member... I was never there and have no idea of which you speak. Umm it wasn't me just a guy that looked like me with a very similar name... so yeah it was him.

Umm I have one wraith and a big box of parts. LOL and I have a Class one rig that I drive around here for my own amusement. It's not really very comp worthy.

Now on a brighter note I have put to rest some health issues that have been driving me insane the last couple months, my holiday duties are pretty much done, and I have one more week of inventory at work and I will have two wraiths if I don't decide on some more custom parts muhaha

See you guys in a couple weeks. The quiet time of year is fast approaching at work and I plan to take full advantage!

Can I hunt some packers?!

Great, need some fresh blood.
