Question for you guys...I am getting some noise out of one of my Tekin 35t motors so I took it apart. I noticed that the comm has worn so there are three flat spots on it, adjacent to each of the seams. This motor probably has 5 hrs time on it. Is this common? What do you think caused the flat spots. This is the motor that I was waiting for the brushes to arrive for. I also got a brand new 35t and it's a night and day difference between the two. You can really see the loss of power in the older one. It's still usable, just noisy and less power than it's supposed to have.

Have you guys used a comm lathe? Is this something I'm going to need to buy?

Can you bring them Sunday?
I'd like to see what they'll look like on before I drop the coin and find out I don't like them.

so i get home last night and start to make another winch servo.

i had 2 brand new heyok no creeps and 2 brand new tower servos (rebadged hitect 5995's iirc)

anyhoo... i pull the guts out of the first servo, cut the pin from the output gear so it will spin, solder in the heyok, seal it all up and install it aaaannnnddd....

same issue... plug in the winch servo and the rx turns off.

i spend about an hour checking wires and connections, swapped in a different rx, try the winch servo on other rigs, just about everything and still it doesnt work.

so i decided to mod the other servo the oldschool way by tweaking the pot and gluing it. that works...

THEN, out of curiousity... i pulled the heyok device out of the servo that didnt work and put in my other new heyok, and it works... so out of the 2 nip heyoks i had, one was bad. go figure.

i tell ya... i'm CURSED when it comes to electronics.

The Heyok winch controller had something to do with my esc shorting out the first time in Roselle.
The truck wouldn't stay on... then I pulled the winch controller and the Heyok BEC and it worked again, but shorted out my ON/Off capabilities... go figure

Im working on trying to get that -3pts for an extra drive axle by sunday! Mostly concerned about what im going to do behind the F350 cab. It'll be fairly long and I need to have the body be 3" longer than the wheelbase and all that jazz to be legal. Flatbed? Extended regular bed? Box truck? Iced cream truck?

So I decided not to build another rig ATM, I will go back to the Mog as soon as I finish the Hilux. So instead, I decided to do a trailer and get some new wheels and a few parts to upgrade my axles. Damned if I didn't still end up with a $600 order with RPP and another $100 with RC4WD. And this is without a kit.

A couple set of under drive gears, a set of overdrive for a spare, 6 no slop lockers, a set of universals for the Hilux, a pulpal, Set of wheels, a hitch and a bunch of parts for my trailer.

I did get the dig working in the Wraith with Brian's help along with a tranny rebuild, new pinion and spur gears and a new 27T HH motor. The tranny had one bearing that came out in about 12 pieces, it was the support bearing for the top shaft. Another bearing's grease seal was gone and it looked like a boxer and shat in it.

SO maybe I will have 2 trucks to break on Sunday again.
