No future support for windows xp

Basically, it means that hackers can use your PC to attack websites and things like that. They attack websites by having soo many PCs hit them at once that the servers cant keep up, which shuts down the website. If you are part of a botnet your computer is one of the ones bombarding the website under attack, but there are a ton of other things that not having anti-virus leaves you open to. Its just a good thing to have.

I would like to thank everyone for the info. "thumbsup" If I find a deal a newer system than xp I guess i'll buy it , but if a xp unit come's along I may buy that and worry about the support went something happen. Like I said its been 3 or 4 years on my old thinkpad and I never downloaded anything to it and it worked great for me.

xp> any other windows to date.

From a professoinal point of view, 7 is far superior (just my opinion! - and lets not talk about 8 )BUT at the end of the day the best OS for someone is the one they feel the most comfortable using "thumbsup"
