Noisy Steering Servo

I just purchased a K10 Ascender about 2 weeks ago. I'm new to RC crawlers.
I did the steering servo upgrade to a Power HD WP-23Kg.

It is very noisy. I can center it and it will be quiet until I turn the wheels. It is very annoying! Is this normal? It makes a buzzing noise constantly.

Also, I do not get full left and right turns? Is there something I'm missing?

Servos can be very noisy when they are doing work (not centered) so thats very normal. Each brand and model of servo is different in that respect, some are louder than others some are near silent.


Not getting full steering left and right has to do with how your transmitter/radio is set up and its End Points.
What radio are you using?



Find the manual for your radio and figure out how to set end points. End points are where the servo will stop in its throw, left and right will have their own end points. Having these set properly is even more important for avoiding breaking the servo and other steering parts but it will also ensure it steers the same amount each direction.
I like to do this while the truck is upside down, steer all the way in one direction while you set its end point, as you adjust it it will steer more or less and make sure it only steers as much as it can do safely, it will make more noise when you're pushing it too far so listen for that. Also make sure the tire isn't rubbing on links by being turner too far. Front axle shafts also have limits to how far you can turn so thats another factor.


Before you set the end points make sure your servo is centered, this is set in the sub trim steering setting. Moving your sub trim will effect your end points so its best to set it first.

I looked the manual up online and it does not show the procedure for setting the limit on the servo. Any other advice?

Its the steering rate dial.

4. Left Steering End Point: Hold the steering wheel in the full left
position. Turn the ST TRIM knob to adjust the left end point.

5. Right Steering End Point: Hold the steering wheel in the full
right position. Turn the ST TRIM knob to adjust the right end
point. Return the steering wheel to the center position.

The PowerHD 23KG is just an annoyingly loud servo.

I had one in my TRX4 for a while, the noise really starts to get on your nerves after 3-4 hours on the trail.

My savox 1230 is crazy loud "some of the time" Its sound bad i thought it was bad lol. Got a dual ess to cover the noise so its not bad now.
