Novak Gear noise

I just got a set of Novak pinions. I'm running a team associated 87t spur.

When I put on the 11t Novak pinion, it is loud!! Lots of gear noise. Do I tried the 15T. Same deal.

I swap in the axial stock 20T. Much quieter. Is this normal?

Is it just because of the lower gear ratio or is it the gear material?

Who makes a nice, quiet pinion?

I took the motor off. Not drivetrain noise. And it's not the motor. It's between the pinion and spur. Crazy

Sounds like some pinions are louder than others from what I've read on here. So maybe I'm not crazy.
