i have an original Novak Rooster (not Super Rooster) and the specs say it is only good up to 7 cells. but i was wondering, has anyone here ever tried one with 8 cells? did it fry? any help would be appreciated.;-)
I have never run my OG Roosters on more than seven cells. I have however run my Super Rooster, which is rated for 10 cells, on 12 cells. I had problems with it cutting out but a BEC would fix that. Otherwise, no ill effects.

I've run my very used OG Rooster on eight 2/3A GP1100 cells and it lasted for about four months before it acted up. Now it will run for about 30 seconds and then it acts like it shut down due to over temp or something....although it is barely warm if that.
Why the heck doesn't Novak wake up and make a crawler ESC that can take at least 8 cells???? BTW, I hate the high pitch noise that the Mambas make or I'd buy a Sidewinder for sure.
I was just wondering since this thread is about the og rooster I may be getting one in a parts trade how are they when it comes to crawling I'm building a crawler based on the wheely king thanks btw did most the normal mods when it was torn down "thumbsup"
I don't like the noise either. Call Castle and let them know what you think- I did. The more people that they hear it from, the more chance they will do something about it.

They work fine when they are working, but not as good as a Rooster Crawler...but that still can't handle enough voltage! Only 7 cells max....

I've heard a few ppl talk about the "whine" from the MM... I put one in my Clod and I don't hear this whine... Or at least, anything different than when I had my EVX in there... I just attributed it to the motors...
Could it be the EVX I ran was making much the same noise?

Im running a rooster in ax10 works good but had to add an external Bec do to higher torque servo, runs good, just doesnt have a real strong brake have to slow motor down when decending down hills..I am runningintegy 55t motor 6 split 2/3 1600mHa orion batt in it mounted on front axle ................This ecs... is worth every penny I have spent on it$ 80.00 new , this is the forth RC this has been in Og rc10, trinitySB, rc10T2 and now ax10 I have had it at least 10 years or more. not a lick of problems
don't see a reason to add more batts I get plenty of run time 45min to 1 hour
