Ok to back with Rustoleum?

Painting my Jeep Rubicon crawler body Candy Yellow and bought silver as a backer but did not like the glitter effect. So on a scrap piece of lexan I sprayed the candy yellow and just sprayed white Rustoleum primer on for a backer to test the color outcome and the outcome is spot on! The exact yellow I was looking for.

Question is, do you think the Rustoleum primer will hold up well? The candy yellow is duratrax polycarbonate paint, then the white Rustoleum is just the backer.

Think the Rustoleum would hold up, and stick, and not Crack up? If I have to order a can of white duratrax poly paint I will but just seeing if any out there has tried a different kind of spray paint that can be bought at local dept stores or hardware stores.

As long as the first color on the lexan is a polycarbonate paint, any paint you put on afterward won't matter, as long as it's compatible. I've used Testor's or Rustoleum flat black as backer paint on mine with no chipping or peeling. I use multiple colors when painting lexan to get a chipped paint/rust effect on both the outside and inside.

However, your results may vary, best to test on a piece of lexan that you cut off from the body.

I've had good luck using Krylon Fusion as a backer. It's designed for most plastics so its adhesion and flexibility properties are greater than that of "standard" spray paint. At least in my experience.

yep been using walmart .98c flat black for backer for years

be sure to let your lexan paint fully cure for 1-2 days before backing so you dont get a reaction. i also mist the first few coats of backer as well to prevent a possible reaction, and help the physical bond of the two paints.

X2, dollar store flats are what I use to back.

And try not to get your backer coat to thick just a couple quick coats usually well do thinner the better that go's for top coat to but do spray enough to get the coverage you need to. Sorry Mr. Flea don't meen to jump in on your post but I felt this info needed to be added to. please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank you for complement but there far from masterpieces you build very well to and there is many many people on here that I am umbarist sometimes to even show my builds there are so good lol
