old reliable part 2 "recycled cruiser"

well, i finally got to put some scale miles under the recycled reliable's 2 year old worn m2k's at the folsom comp. it was awesome! this thing tackled some gnarly stuff and was able to squeeze out a second place finish in advanced 2.2 with only 2-wheel steer and no dig! again, it has a 12.5" wb, bruiser/mounty axles and frame, 1/2 leaf front suspension, 4-link rear, rc4wd trans and no wheel weights. still need to make a bed and all the scale details. the custom knuckles i made for it created some insane steering angles which definately helped. badger has all the pic's and video so keep an eye out for them! when he gets them up, i'll try tpo get them into this thread also.

it has been a while since i updated this project, so i thought i'd add something. today, i finished the bed for the 45. it follows the lines of the original but is different. as soon as i can find the digi cam, i'll post up some pics. i still need to make the tailgate functional and add a rear bumper but she is good enough to drive. PIC'S COMING SOON!

here are a few shots of the bed. still need to finish tailgate and the rear bumper. dont flame me too bad on the bends. i only have a bench vise and hammer to bend sheetmetal (wanna donate a sheetmetal brake?).

by the way, i will be repainting the body silver w/white top. should i paint the bed too? the inside of the bed will get flat black to simulate a spray in liner. what do you think? paint the bed or not? let me hear your opinions- good or bad.;-)

edit: the angled detail at the back of the bed at the bottom was ruined when we tried to tig weld the floor to the sides, so i will fill the space with some type of bumper/protection.

wrinkle paint to simulate bed liner........ and if anyone flames you over your craftsmanship on your bed we will just simply go to their house and set them on actual fire

LMAO I was just gonna say fawk em' to whoever is flamming but hey do what you gotta do  The bed looks GREAT in my opinion, and krinkle/wrinkle paint does work awesome for a bed liner if you lay that 1st then some flat black.

Also whats with the stampede front wheels?

Damn Minge, dat chit looks sick. I better get my azz in gear and get mine done!
Great work, that bed turned out amazing.

thanks for the compliments! i thought about the cankle... i mean wrinkle paint, but that would mean i would have to go to the store. BBQ paint is in the garage. i guess, i am kinda lazy and cheap;-). as far as the stampede wheels go, i am running rc4wd adapters on the front. the stock axle width is too narrow in proportion to the rear and the tires hit so i put on the adapters and pede wheels with as much negative backspacing as possible to equalize track width and help minimize scrub radius. eventually, i will make some wheel spacers to use with the stock mounty/bruiser wheels.
