You're being rediculous. $80 for a set of tires is nothing. Everybody buys CI foams anyways. I'm pretty sure Pitbull, RC4WD and Proline are huge companies compared to Voodoo. Keep doing what you do Matthew, some people are never happy :roll:

It's spelled "ridiculous". And no, I'm not being ridiculous. I'm voicing my honest opinion and giving constructive criticism. Just because you disagree with it doesn't mean it's ridiculous.
Yes, I'm sure Pitbull, Proline and RC4WD sell more tires. I don't base my purchasing decision on what company sells the least or most of a product. That never factors in. What does factor in is price. The other manufacturers are going to continue selling more if they have a comparable product at a lower cost. And no, not everybody goes right to CI foams. I'd venture to guess most people in this hobby don't even know CI foams exist. Those same people might not know that Ottsix exists either, but your "everybody buys CI foams" is invalid.

What I'm saying is that people who want the best will pay whatever it costs, why do you think Vanquish is always out of product? The molds for these tires are VERY expensive and the manufacturer has to recoup his costs (and make a little bit in the process). Smaller tire manufacturers don't sell as many tires and have to price their tires accordingly. Oh, and let me rephrase what I said earlier...... everyone that cares about performance (and is going to buy these tires) uses CI foams. Nite!

And you must think you're the tire police coming at me over a comment that wasn't even directed at you.
I was the plant engineer at a company that molded ingot support beams. I was involved in the design of molds as well as overseeing the production of the molded parts. The tolerances were tighter than anything you'll ever see in RC. So as you can imagine, I know a little bit about molds, molding, and the associated costs. You're in over your head here, but you can continue to try to teach me about molding via PM if you'd like. I'd be happy to correct you.
Pitbull and ProLine molds aren't cheaper than these molds. I know Ottsix would sell more tires if their prices were more inline with their competition. I was just trying to make that point.
Now how about you stop bickering with me and allow this thread to continue?

You get what you pay for. Just because the other companies give you $3 worth of garbage foams that get tossed or given away. So the real price difference is about $10 - $20 for a set of what can be considered a custom tire. I personally have 3 sets of his 2.2 u4 tires all with c.i. foams. I plan on buying atleast two sets of the 1.9 tires when they come out. Why do I pay $80 a set, because they are a superior tire and because I prefer to support vendors here on rcc versus large companies only concerned about profits.

If Ottsix is selling out their manufacturing capacity on a consistent basis (which it seems like on the U4 tires, don't know about their other lines), then it means they could charge more for their product.
As far as tooling costs, even though the molds are the same, I'm sure the cost of capital are different for all three companies and is usually more expensive for smaller firms.

Tim is right voodoo is a small companie compared to rc4wd and pitbull and their right here in ABQ MN and if you want the best you'll pay for the best.
