From what I was told, they dropped the BEC rating because
1. They were redoing the entire board layout anyway for the new software
2. the 18th scale cars didn't need so much bec (the real market for the mamba 25)
3. The new board layout didnt have enough room to easily fit the 3 amp bec
I have been putting a bug in castle's ear about releasing external voltage regs. They have made them for projects, but havent decided if they will produce them. They are TINY little 3A switching regs, about the size of raisen. They are also pretty cheap to produce as well. I am all for the koolflight UBEC's, but they cost almost $40. I don't know about you, but I dont want to spend $40 more on all my brushless rigs just to get the servos working. Might as well spend the 40 extra on a 'bot servo and run it on 6 cells and loose the regulator.
