PC Sim Racing

Cory, if it weren't for you, I would have missed my race, thanks bud. "thumbsup"

Qualified 5th, didn't wuss out, started on the grid, gotta learn the racecraft eventually and that's what rookies should be about right? Ended up finishing 4th, with a helluva battle with a super clean good racer. 0 penalties or incidents on my part, SR of 2.85 now. Man, how good it feels to run a flawless race.

Went ahead and did Limerock tonight, since we all turned laps that one night in the Caddy's I felt pretty confident I could wrangle the raw hamsters of the Miata around there. Started from the grid, qualified 5th, botched the start and was second to last. I waited, and sure enough a couple of them simply went flying off the track. From there I picked my way back to 5th, then 4th and 3rd took each other out putting me in second place. On about the 12th lap, my shifter bolts started working loose from my wheelstand. So I'd lean over, tighten them up in the straight, and make my lap, then repeat. I was a sweaty, nervous mess hoping it would hold till the end, but it did. Also, got this too!

^^I had never seen that before! Well, at least I wasn't in danger of dying from it. I had went for fourth to fifth shift, and the whole shifter just sort of swung around LOL. Gonna replace the wing bolts with hex bolts.

So to progress towards my C class license, here's my gameplan for the coming weeks. Let me know if you guys would change anything.

10/04 - Limerock again in the Slostice
10/11 - Spa in the Caddy
10/18 - Laguna Sega in the Skippy
If needed, for the fourth week I have my choice between the Slostice at Laguna Seca or the Skippy at the 24hrs de LeMans course.

EDIT: I can't just hang out in the MX5 cup, as they no longer meet my MPR (minimum participation requirement).

well well boys this weekend marks the end of a good run. This Saturday at the Petit Lemans, will be the last race for the Corvette DP cars in IMSA:cry:

they will be replaced by the LMP2 cars (which i dont care for) currently racing against the DPs

Ill be curious to see how iRacing handles this. If they pull the DP from the IMSA series. Similiar to the RUFs in GT3

the good news is the DP is going out with a bang. currently holding the championship in first place going into the final race."thumbsup"8)

Development work on dirt is going great! The physics, art, and track dynamics systems are all starting to work together in real-time. Today we took the #25 Sprint car out for a spin at Eldora Speedway. Here you'll see the first glimpse of a prepared track beginning to develop a groove. Not yet visible but almost ready will be the accumulation of loose dirt and a cushion. Again, this is all dynamic... the track will constantly change and react based on the cars, resulting in an unparalleled dirt racing simulation.

I'm chomping at the bit to turn some laps in one 'o those bad boys!! Also, got my nephew the next few day, and my ISP has a system wide issue, so I won't be on much if at all. Haven't gotten to drive my new Porsche at all, dammit!

I was just reading about the dirt progress myself! I may have to dust off the wheel and renew my subscription for winter.

Why does everyone insist on trying the be the next Michael Bay and dubbing shit dramatic music over the engine sounds?

I turned some laps last night, mostly in the RUF. I'm really struggling to come to grips (no pun intended) with the car. I'll make quite a few smooth, nice laps, then suddenly just completely lose the rear. It's a fixed setup car, so there's not much I can do. May have to re-evaluate which series I'm going to focus on. May turn some more laps tonight, just to make sure I wasn't just having an off night.

with the rear engine, be sure not to put down power on crests, woops in track, or curbs. and be mindfull of all that weight back there your throwing around. once that mass gets moving( ie left, right, or up), its going to keep that momentum for awhile and spin you.

Yeah, I'm fine under power, it's all under braking on turn in that it goes to hell. According to the iRacing forum, changing the brake balance to 50 or better makes a huge difference so I'll try that tonight. Apparently it's all screwy out of the box.

having the PC hooked to the living room TV has its advantages at times
our tuning buddy Jon Hall is in this race too

So, I just got done with my RUF series race. And finished 2 laps down because some Forza dickhole plowed into four of us in the first corner. I ended up on my lid and spent forever in the pits for repairs.
