"Phat" Axles Mini Review

I don't want to necro a thread, but a year isn't too bad.

I had to replace a set of stock housing and beat to death tubes, so I opted to give the phat axles a shot. There was a little paint that needed to be removed, and I opted to re tap the threads, they may or may not have needed it.

Other then that everything transferred over. Ran them hard for 3 hours yesterday, a good bit of bottom paint is worn off. However I think they are an upgrade over stock housings and tubes. I don't think I will switch the stock housing style for the new style on my existing rigs. Lets see how they do, before I replace the other 2 sets.

Anyone want to update their experiences?
I have installed, but still unused Phat axles. Everything went together fine.

My dad also has them on his heavy 1.9 and sometimes 2.2 Axial Dingo. He beats on his truck and that thing is a monster - heaviest SCX10 I've ever felt. He had no installation issues and he's still beating on them and hasn't had a single issue. He has the most ferocious rolls out of our group and I think his motto is "When in doubt throttle out!" :lmao: He puts stuff to the test.

I can vouch for those rolls. That truck takes a beating and somehow keeps going.

No updates from mine, been running other rigs over the summer.

I managed to bend a universal that came with the Phat kit... Took an unexpected jump. No stock at Atees now so may get some XR replacement as they look to be same size by 1mm ish!
Other than that, the axles fit perfectly and are heavy as. Great for crawling.

Why? If you don't revive old threads, you'll be criticised for starting a new thread when you could have used the search function :D You did the right thing!

On that note I have a couple dozen hours on these axles, and so far so good. Truck drives nice with them, slides better and most importantly I have really solid mounting mounts for the panhard mount and rear leaf springs. Only mod needed was tapping on hole on each side of the axle, and for good measure used the tap to clear the paint on all holes.

For the price I would buy them again, and plan to next time I need new axle housings.

Truth be told, for my scx10ii I went with ssd pro axles. So there is something in the back of my head they isn't 100% sold on their reputation.

How are these holding up till this day, would you suggest them ?
Good to have these old threads here to help !

Mine are still fine and I can't think of any reason to not recommend them [emoji106]
Dropped FI lockers in mine as well which went in perfect.

Have some scratches, but are fine. Universals are still solid, no problems to report.

What, does everyone expect them to crumble into dust?
