Volt up! Gear down!
I need some software for secondary product tracking, something where I can just scan products in and out and assign wholesale and retail values. Something compatible with a web store would be really nice. Anything out there you fellas have experience with?

Before anyone starts shooting about the software being intended for restaurant use, I'll tell you it is one hell of simple and steady program. Works with PDAs, barcode scanners and almost any device that can be used in logistics.
Program is made by swiftlogic which is based in the US.

Not state of the art programming, but all function and no show. It can also alert you on various stuff like low inventory compared to a medium of orders for a specific product etc.

I have used in the past programs like segid, SAP, AmadeusPOSMIS, Barracuda blah blah. This one is the simplest, yet effective program. And it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Sorry to clutter, but I looked at that site, and I just had to say... They had absolutely no foresight in the acronym they used did they....

"POS Star Software is the best Restaurant Management Software" :lmao:

If you only need the inventory side you might take a look at AmberPOS or ChainDrive. Both are very efficient and fairly easy to use. I prefer ChainDrive; it does inventory management, sales tracking, POS, etc. but it's focused on IM. And VERY user friendly.

John, I dont know if this will help you or not. I used to work in a customs warehouse for several years and its absolutely necessary to keep control of stock, live inventory, day to day delivery, and tracking information. The warehouse I worked for held several items for many companies in the thousand to millions price range and every item was inventoried with Zebra technologies and we knew where it was stored, how many, and what was shipped and to whom through the software. They have all kinds of info and material to fit their consumer. Please give them a try or look through their website.

I recommend the Quickbooks set up, cheapest way in...and you aren't doing real POS, you need inventory control which Quickbooks does just fine along with POS should you need that down the line for a brick/mortar store.

I want a hand scanner, and I hate quickbooks. Hate isn't strong enough for my disgust with that hidious software that I already have and use.

Same here. Don't think they could have made it much more of a PITA to use. Accoutants push it like crazy though.

Only because there isn't many affordable choices for software that appeals to accountants. What I really hate is that you can't just delete a transaction. You have to void it and deal with the duplicates. What happens when I import something wrong? If FAWKS me over completely and I can't just fix it with some deletion.

Our central puchasing at work uses WASP for barcode stuff????hope this helps

I know its horrible. You have to go through a bunch of steps to do anything. Making estimates, invoices and writing checks is fairly simple but thats about it. God forbid you screw up or have to delete something. My accountant has classes on QB he teaches and was trying to get me to take, like $125hr. I thought:flipoff:
