The new paintjob on the power wagon body did not turn out at all. Gotta strip it down and do-over. In the meantime, I made some new panels for the cage body using the plastic cover for a sketch book.
The old set of panels still used the metal hood from the Walmart toy. Didn't weight these, but the old hood itself was 16 grams, so a nice reduction in weight up high. Also brought the sides all the way back to the rear of the cage.
I think the proportions are still a little off. The 170mm wheelbase seems to work perfectly for this build, so I won't mess with that. Need to either move the whole cage back a little, or maybe extend the rear bodywork. Going to a smaller tire would kind of help the look, but most places I drive are more appropriate for a 1/10, so the big tires help a lot.
It's always hard to get an impression of how steep a grade is just from a pic, but believe me this rocky hill (part of a mountain bike trail) is hard to even walk up. Took multiple attempts to find the right line up there but I made it. See the rock with the small hole below the ledge? I went up the gap between the rock below it and the one to the left, took a right, and the up the triangular smooth rock (actually concrete) at the right end of the ledge.
Next time I'll shoot a video haha. Also swapped out the 40:1 crawler gears, went with the 24.4:1 ratio Injora gears on this run. It's a trade off, but there are a lot of cool trails around this area and I think I'll end up using this as more of an all purpose truck rather than a dedicated comp rig.
