Attention: This will be a slooooow build

Picked this up off the classifieds. This has always been one of my favorite builds, and i'm proud to own a little bit of history.

As far as staying true to the original, I don't plan on doing any modification to the frame or overall look of the truck. I think I will try to challenge myself by attempting to fab up a morew complete interior.

The Basics:

- The Pirate Bronco
- Summit 2 speed with Jason's mount
- VXL 3s brushless system
- Spektrum DX3 (may have to find a 4 ch radio if I decide to make a winch)
- JR 9100T
- 6V "No-Brainer" BEC (plug & play, figured I'd give it a whirl)
- Xr10 shocks (I will probably have to limit them internally)
- 2.2 Rok Lox
- No idea on wheels yet. Eventually, maybe some OEM Steelies or CAC's.
- VP shock hoops front & rear
- Axial Knuckles
- 3 racing cvd's
- Gunnar/Jones'n Beef Toobs front & rear
- R2J trusses front & rear

Unsure if I'll do the gren flames, I kinda dig the all black panels

VP front hoops already installed. It's gonna be four linked all around. Pillaging an RcBro's servo mount from a leaf kit to secure the servo to the chassis.

Passing on the 5955 for the 9100T. I was thinking of trying the Dinky cradle, but I think it'll distort the profile of the truck too much, so the Jason mount is a GO. I'll also have to see how much space the Summit trans takes up before I try my hand at an interior. Maybe I can convince ($$$, cough cough) Yotachump to make a low CG motor plate for this.

You guys have any suggestions for wheels?

Also, I think I want to run 2 headlamps. What's the simplest setup? I have no experience with lighting at all.

Any suggestions or pointers on how to start on an interior? No experience with that either.

That's all for now. Don;t expect any updates too soon. Lol. Oh can can someone buy one or two of my other rigs to help fund this one? Thanks

Go to Pirate4x4.com and look under JR's build there for ideas. He took a lot of pics when building this, his second EB buggy.

I have an autographed pic from him the year he won (the 1st?) KOH in this rig. I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

Thanks for the heads up. I may just have to do that. Sadly, Saydee's original build thread of this is without 95% of it's pics.

EDIT: Maybe I'm incompetent, or maybe just blind (or BOTH!) but I can't seem to find the thread on the Pirate site. Can someone post the link on here for me? Thanks

dont ruin it with 2.2s!

this rig need the new 1.9 RC4WD boggers or baja claws under it!

Funny you say that. I actually have some 1.9 Baja Claws coming my way. I was gonna putthem on my other SCX if it doesn't sell.

I don't care much for the boggers though. The pro-line TSL see more my speed. Heck maybe I'll look for some used 1.9 Rok Lox.

Im watching! Im watching intently!

Lol. I may have to hit you up for some seats and stuff to get the interior going. I'll be in touch.

Loving the new sig. Scale porn shop. Need to make a scale glove box with some skin mags in it. Haha

Thanks bud"thumbsup" I was looking in the Ford section instead of General, and i hadn't registered yet so i couldn't do a search. Very much appreciated.

man that thing is sweet! very jealous
id love to get my hands on something like that

love the colors!!

Thanks. I've always dug this thing, and I'm glad it's finally mine. A few more parts to arrive, then I'll really start cracking on a build.

Chassis looks nice,

I think you should run these

Vanquish slw v2 and use .850 offset. Spookie always look my favorate but didn't claw that well.

Saydee, I was just skimming through the 75 pages of tech on the rael Pirate, and i saw soeme of your pics.

I think I'll try the 2.2 Rok Lox out first. If they look too big, I think I might check them out in the 1.9 size.

I saw JR comment on your sway bar setup, that you said was a disconect. Do you have any pics of that?

That's the way it goes sometimes. No aluminum shock hoops either:evil:

Thanks for those pics though. The Rok Lox are such a good looking tire.

Let's see more new pics.

Maybe tomorrow. A bunch of goodies came in the mail today and I need to sort through all of it before I snap a few teasers"thumbsup"

Just finished! How does it look? I think i got every detail down to a T!

But seriously, anyone know of some 1.9 wheels that look like these?

I think the Epics look similar enough, but they are 2.2's. The Baja claws also showed up, but i think i'll put them on my other scx...

So i need vote. Pro-Line TSL's or 1.9 Rok Loxs? Although the tires on there look like flat irons...

Decisions decisions.

I went through this with saydee before.
Not sure if you knew this but i too was doing this truck but saydee beat me to the punch. Natalie morgan had done a full tube version of this for me which i never finished and ending up selling.

As a 1.9 flat irons look to be the closest. I know RC4WD has ones like them also which are now better compounds.
there is an RC4WD rim in 1.9 that is similar. It has more holes. But you can paint the incerts green.

Im on my phone typing this so its difficult for me to give you the names.
