Project: 78' Chevy K20 Long Bed "Ole' Heavy"

Re: Project: 78' Chevy K20 Long Bed

its got seats!
nice job on the antenna, too. does it flop around pretty good? slowly? my dad had a magnet mount he would toss on the top of the cab when we had a caravan of buddies headed out for dove season on the Colorado river. or sometimes he would toss it up on long drives just to listen to truckers chit chatting. i need to see if i can re-create in 1:10...

truck is looking great friend! that 3rd to last pic in the sand, looks like 1:1!
maybe hit the body with some matte clear to make it look like primer until you paint it? just an idea for the meantime.
i REALLY like this truck and its tempting to get one!!!

Re: Project: 78' Chevy K20 Long Bed

Lol yeah it got seats. No dashboard but seats. I had to put them in to see if the floor cleared all the electronics. It's a tight fit and I had to move the receiver to it's own box under the bed but it works.

My dad use to have one of those magnet cb antennas too. He put his on for deer hunting. That's where I got the idea from.

I'm planning on throwing some primer on after I finish the body work. I might drive it like that for a while. I'm planning on putting a rust color paint on it first so as I scratch it while trailing it looks like rust forming. Thanks for all the compliments and show so much interest in my build. Really appreciate it.

Experienced bad axle wrap last time I took my rig out. So bad it actually pushed the leaf spring off the mounting screw. So I decided to solve the problem by making my own anti wrap bars. I had some old Lesu leaf spring shackles collecting dust so I added some steel plating and square brass tube, welded it all together and voila... Instant anti wrap bars. Still got the flex I want with no more wrap. Plus I still got the ground clearance. Still need to clean then up and make them look pretty but I'm happy

Ok, then you're going to need scale Hooker and Moon eyes stickers for the traction bars and a long feathered roach clip for the rear view mirror ;-)

The dual shocks came out looking perfect!
Thanks man. I wasn't about to pay all that money for a set of Rc4wd dual shock hoops so I made my own

They did come out looking right. "thumbsup"
I've never seen the dual shock hoops in stock anywhere, and the link on the RC4WD site seemed to go to a dead page.

They might not make them anymore. I just seen price I them and said Hell no

Worked on anti wrap ladder bars a little more on my '78 K20. Welded on another bar for added strength.

Re: Project: 78' Chevy K20 Long Bed

Decided to turn my K20 into a straight long bed dually. I'd like to introduce everyone to "Ole' Heavy".

Been a lot of rain around here lately. Guess I'll make the best of it. Took Ole' Heavy to get a little mud on him. Was going to take a video by I lost the freakin set screw in my rear driveshaft after taking these pics

Traction wise they work great. The duallies also help great for stability. Wider stance. Less roll over.

Re: Project: 78' Chevy K20 Long Bed "Ole' Heavy"

Fixed the set screw issue and did a maintenance check and cleaning on Ole'Heavy. Under the truck really got caked with mud and once it dryed it was hard as a rock. Had to chisel it off.

Really love these wheels. They can come off the hub just like the real ones. Scale
