questions about paint job

my fellow rc enthusiasts,

I have a Few questions about doing a paint job to my NYLINT 1:6 crawler.

First and foremost, is it better so sand it lightly before applying paint? sanding will make the paint stick more to the body .

second is, what kind of good paint should i use... would a TAMIYA paint work?
or just rustoleoum is good enough

third but not least, where do you guys get the miniature gas tank, shovel,NOS bottle and etc. im thinking of making a NYLINT shelf queen.

And last would be, what is a good size dirver and passenger that i could put in WITHOUT cutting their legs off. Would a GI JOE fit good? i think barbie would be to big.

about sanding it, i did not the first time and on my first good roll i had a lot of paint come off, while cleaning the body to re paint it an air compresser got even more paint off. so you should sand it first. fusion paint is good paint, does not take long to dry and hold up well. and i never put a driver in mine so i dont know about the gi joe.

Definitely sand it and clean it with Brake cleaner. My paint was a krylon type paint in a spray can. You can see in the pictures how hard it's been scratched on rocks and hasn't chipped off exept for where it really had some rock rash but it's holding really well. Everything that wasn't sanded like the inside of the "bed" flakes off easily.

It's just the stock one cut down. Look at "Heep no more..the second" and there's lots of pics.

I sanded mine. I also used Dupont Truck Bed Spray liner. It adhered to the plastic very well. It does not scrape up when I rub rocks or roll over.
