This trailer build is an odd one because of the hitch system that I'm using. It consists of an M5 all-thread piece, locknut, two washers, a stiff spring, and a 5mm bore u-joint. I'm playing around with this setup because all the other RC trailer hitches I've tried fail when put through their paces off-road. The central beam is a piece of 5/8x1x12" aluminum bar stock. The axle is a Team Raffee camper tent trailer; it is much narrower than the SCX-10, which caused some problems when navigating my rock course. So I've put on wider adapters, but have yet to test them out. I'm in the process of designing the cabin, and it will most likely be built from 1/8" plywood.

So far, the hitch has been a stable design, with only 1 on course, but I'm hoping the extended wheel adapters fix that issue or at least minimize it. The oppisite end of the hitch is attached to a piece of 1/4" aluminum bar stock, that is being held to the bumper via a M2.5 screw.

That's a great idea on the hitch. I built a trailer last year but haven't run it yet out of fear that a broken hitch is going to leave me having to carry a trailer with a rig on it as well as trying to drive the tow rig. Add two radios to the mix and that could be a rough trek back to the trailhead.

Yep.. ingenious idea there and one that I'm going to try to steal. Nice job.
