"RAZORBAK" ROUGH trucks and Generis Custom Metalworks co-lab buggy

Erock- With setup it's almost completely gone, so little that you wouldn't notice on the rocks. I have a plan for eliminating it all together. Good choice on the T-case honestly it's the toughest little thing I've ever seen, and it is really tiny, it's GREAT!!!

BrianB- Good choice man, GCM makes awesome stuff, and their scaler component line is always expanding!!

Alright so I got a bit of a test run in, not long, but on a good course and I LOVE IT!!! This truck handles like a sports car, jumps like a buggy, and crawls over everything with low speed grunt! It’s amazing, that’s really all I can say. I’m running unweighted rims and this rig could side hill and handle near verticals with ease. I’m really impressed. But I did have some issues. First of all my servo is on its way out and won’t throw full to the left. Second, I need a BEC (which I already got) wired in because after 30 minutes hard steady running it was showing signs of power failure to the receiver and servo. Thirdly this cage needs some more cool factor!!!

So out came the brake line, cutter and round file. On the list of cage mods there were a few things to do. I really like the basic shape but it lacked details, so the back end got some more rails and webbing. Then the frontend got a nice arched fender rail, this will fill the space under the fender and add structure. I added another diagonal brace across the door to create a solid line around the perimeter. I had really like the head light hoops I had done but after getting the winch mounted, I realized they were just too tall. So they are getting chopped. Here is where I’m at.

Here is a better shot of the Mini Truss Prototype, I can’t even start to explain how awesome this thing is!! It’s tiny, it’s tough, it’s really triangulated and hides nicely out of sight.

I also have the winch out so I can work on the wiring. I don’t have a work bench in the garage yet so I’m doing most of my work on top of the tool boxes. Gotta get a work bench.

Here is my possible controller for the winch. It’s a receiver/esc in one out of a toy rc with a forward and reverse function. This thing would clip on to my belt or something and be really easy to use. But can it handle the voltage????

I’d have to coat the whole thing in silicone too

That’s it for now.

Got the cage all welded up yesterday! Few minor things left. Head light plates, body mounting tabs and a good clean up then paint. Here are some shots of the cage as it is now.

I also picked up some new tires from Big Bob’s 4x4, they are a discontinued line in G8 compound, so they were cheap and should kick a**. Got the cage mounted up and it looks good these tires are a good height for this truck. Need to add some lead shot for weight to keep it planted.

Not a lot of room to flex out in the garage but you can see the potential.

I took it out for a little run today, ran the tires at 25psi worked well but a little too hard. I was working up a good climb and planned to air down at the top when we stopped for lunch, but I never made it to the top. Main drive shaft coming outta the tranny sheared clean off. Next time I’ll go around the big over hanging ledge instead of trying bulldoze it over…….. Sorry no pics of the carnage had to leave it out on the trail going back for her tomorrow parts in hand. I’ll have to call in sick, boss is gonna be p!55ed at me!!!

Thanks guys

This is looking killer "thumbsup".

I really like the black and red. The tube design you have is sweet.

Did you have to cut the front off of the chassis? I looks shorter now.

I cut it off pre-ano about an inch off the front and 3/4" off the rear.

The winch is set up to run straight off the 3s lipo. lol.

Shots on the ROCKS!!! Some testing at the GCM test course!!!

After a little outdoor run, CARNAGE!!!

I’m working on a solution for blown axle housing because I do it a lot!!! So I picked up some 3/8” brass tube and made some reinforcing sleeves. I plan to put a little JB weld around the sleeve in one half of the housing to hold it in place. Like this.

So after a lot of testing over the last 2 days I’m very confident with this chassis and suspension setup. However, the original concept of this truck was to be a single seater, rear mounted motor buggy. So I did some creative rearranging.
_MG_7672.jpg

Motor in the rear!!! The motor tranny combo are actually lighter then the 3s lipo, not to mention the compact size and all the weight is in front of the rear axle.

Cage off shots of the front. Servo, esc/CAP., receiver, BEC, winch controller and half the 3s lipo under the hood. Not bad. I still have enough room for my seat and some leg room.

Nice rig! Good job with the tubework and the anodizing came out nice. I've been reading up on the GCM kits and I really want to do a build with one in the future. I like that 4 Link truss too. Keep it up!8)

I saw this truck in action on the weekend! nice rig, and great mean look to it! Where's the driver, man! He must have gone for coffee, it was a cold morning!
