RC Rally Legends

Hmm...you should watch some WRC Finland videos. It's more like a foot or two...or even four at times. I had the RS4 Rally as well and it was a fun little car. You can't beat the details and low prices of the Rally Legends though! "thumbsup"

Even still, 4 feet is only like 5 inches in 1:10 scale...

That's what I meant, but even still, 20ft jumps of a short course track is not a scale way to gauge a rally cars worth. And yes it's a solid car for being an older design, but I agree with turtle, the xv is a rennaisance

you are right .. it is night and day .. xv-01 nose dives everywhere while rs4 sails ,longer travel, with the reedy 3300 and cstle sv3{very light on both counts } and a lipo in it its very well balanced.

Yeah... No. But what do I know? I have only been doing this for 5 years, 3 times a week and have had virtually every rally platform that has ben conceived. On top of the 200 other RC's I have had/driven over the last 10 years. :lmao:

I can show you photos and videos of the XV-01 tail slapping over jumps if you really need to see it. The jumping characteristics are all based on throttle control, and it's a very easy platform to control in the air, the front motor design doesn't let the front end to float in the air and allows even flight control, unlike rear motor designs... This isn't hokum, it's fact. I understand the hang up with platforms you have grown accustom too, I used to love the TB-01 and DF03RA, they were strong and took a beating (once a couple bugs were worked out), but they drove like rubbish compared to the XV-01. Even the Losi XXXR doesn't drive as well as the XV-01. And locally many considered that an amazing car (after a few mods).

Front motor is the way of the future with RC (at the very least rally). To prove this point look at the WRC every single one is a front motor car, but they manage to jump and corner with proper throttle control. If rear motor was really that great cars like the Porsche and the Lancia Stratos would still be winning events.

On top of that, it's important to support those who support us. What is HPI doing for rally? The WR8? A car that has poor support and no other rivals as to make racing a practical meanings of expanding the hobby. Rally is a family, a support group and a means to bring people together. The WR8 is a means to play off the popularity of one person. It's just... not. Random tangent over.

Couldn't have said it better.... It's just like a real car, all the weight up front to help It dig into the surface.

Has anyone tested to see if parts such as the diffs / spools from the TB03 work on the rally legend?

I bought one couple weeks ago. I bought the one with Lancia 037 Martini body. I upgraded the shock towers, middle brace and chassis plates to carbon. Also put aluminum shocks and 2s lipo. First time I buy an rc and its been a blast. The lipo is a big improvement.
Don't have alot of experience, but learning fast reading on this forum.

I was running it in a parking lot on the snow the other day and snapped one of the C-hubs. I bought all the aluminum hubs front and rear and should be getting them next week.
I bought everything from Nitrorcx. So much cheaper than rally legends parts. They are exactly the same.

Question for the pros: What weight oil should I put in the front and rear differencial? And also what is the best weight to use for the front and rear shocks for rally setup?

Are there compatible aluminum suspension arms that I can use from another model?

thanks

Can you post the parts from NitroRCX? I can't figure out which kit is identical to the RallyLegends

Regarding aluminium parts, you should avoid suspension parts in Aluminium.

1. Prior to breaking, Plastic flexes and absorbs shock. Aluminium will just bend and you may not even notice.. All the while it's making your car do odd things

2. The car needs have a weak point for impact. If you firm up one week point, your transferring that weak point to another part. So if you change your suspension arms to aluminium, then the mounts will take the impact. If you change those to aluminium, then the chassis mounts will take the impact.

3. Plastic is always cheaper to replace then aluminium

Here is the page from NitroRCX where you can see all the parts that are compatible with the Rally Legends cars. Some parts cost up to 3 times less than the Rally Legends parts.

03C506 & 03C806 Exceed 1/10 EP MadSpeed Drift Car Spare Parts

Yeah your right. I'm not gonna get the arms in aluminum. Its better in plastic composite so it can absorb some vibrations. I'll buy another set of arms in case I break one.
The hubs are worth it though, especially in front. I received my hubs yesterday and swaped them. Looks and feel very good. Also got the 31 pinion gear. Will test the car tomorow to see how it feels.

Next upgrade will be the bevel gear diffs and after that I will switch to brushless setup.

I realize this is an old thread. I was happy, though, to see that some people had experience with Rally Legends.

I just bought an Iveco EVO2 body kit. I haven't decided on a chassis yet. My immediate problem is that the body kit did not come with instructions - e.g. where to cut, where and how to attach the numerous parts. I have sent several emails and left a phone message with Rally Legends. All unanswered so far. I wonder if they are still in business.

If anyone has information on the Iveco kit - maybe someone has assembled one - or information on contacting Rally Legends, I would very much appreciate that information.

UPDATE: I just received a call from Eric at Rally Legends USA and have a couple leads.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead but are these kits still available for purchase in US or online store?

It is hard to get them even in Europe. I have 2 of their bodies on backorder for couple of months now :(

I sent email and got a reply from italtrading.it. They say they are the manufacturer. I see on their website, most of the kits are sold out

I love the details on the body but not sure how durable the chassis and the quality of the kit

These cars do look great. In terms of purchasing them in the US, I have seen some on EBay. If anyone is just looking for a unique rally body to fit their Traxxas f what ever, check out Team BlueGroove out of Canada and their EBay store.
