Happy New Year!!!

In February 2017 I was given a RC10DS and asked to bring it back to life by a buddy of mine. No deadline, no rush....as payment i received an 1:8 scale Ofna buggy with pull start Hyper .21 engine and servos (no radio). The deal was sealed at a handshake.

DS Project car as received

Missing parts: Wheels, wheel bearings, Axle drive cups, dog bones, axle hubs, axle bearings, outer hinge pins, tie rods, servo mounts, slipper clutch, gear cover, front and rear stabilizer bars, and front shock end mounts. The rear bulkhead and battery cup have missing areas so those two items will be replaced.

I started by putting the aluminum parts through several applications of Easy-Off over cleaner in order to remove the black coating.

Will update as soon as i make some progress....i got a few DS projects up my sleeve!

Update: I've progressed slowly with this project and im happy to say that i have reached the end. A few pics of my progress followed by the completed car. The car will remain clear as my buddy wants to do the paint job.

My Buddy can't wait to get this on his shelf!
Too bad he wont run her because she is a smooth roller. Gear mesh is perfect and quiet.

Let me know what you think!

Looks awesome!! Nice work overall. Make sure you update with the paint job

My buddy wants to paint this car in white with black stripes. I may end up doing that for him if he doesn't pick it up soon. He may love it even more if its fully painted:mrgreen:

Awesome "thumbsup"

Lots of elbow grease in this thread....

Greg, This thread is oozing elbow grease:lmao:

Definitely!

two wheel drive...three gear ball diff tranny..cant get any better than that:mrgreen:

Where's the best place to source Stealth tranny parts? I smoked one trying to make an RC10 go fast with a Castle 5700kv motor.

I'm tempted to DS one of my RC10s. Yours look so good. "thumbsup"

I just checked towerhobbies and they have replacement parts for it.

Its easy to convert the buggy to a DS its just a matter of gathering parts. Ive purchased used front ends, rear ends, and beatup rollers just to have parts available for restore projects. Christmas 2017 i gathered some parts, took a buggy and converted it to a DS....a mid engine DS that is:mrgreen:

I havent smoked one yet and i run a castle 5700kv as well....but i run 7.2 nimh so you can say speed is lacking, lol.
