Installation of 540 motor is as easy as removing 4 block screws

2014-09-0818-11-28454_zps665d9388.jpg

And 5 screws on the front

Will doQUOTE=Katan;4902815]How about you do a complete tear down and show all the individual parts?
A lot of work went into the details you cant even see after assembly :)

I love this thing and I want one for my TF2, but I see that it takes up the space where the steering servo mounts. Do I just need to move the steering servo to the front of the new transmission to make everything work or is there some other step I will need to do?

That's correct. That is what the new link is for.

Install is going to be delayed... It's heading to World's next week for a little show and tell... :dude:

I have to say that this is the most amazing, thought out scale upgrade to date. I have seen a lot of new products but this is the schiznit.

And to think that RC4WD had the mounting points already in the TF2 Chassis just blows me away.

It takes longer to pull the stock tranny out than put this one back it.

I opted to go with photos this time...figured you are pretty tired of my voice.

First things first....on the RC4WD Store, there are links to the assembly of the components and installation on the TF2...

TF2 & V8 Engine Fitting Instructions

Now let's get on with the fun...

I opted to do a motor swap on my original TF2. I was planning on cutting the hood off, so this will be a good "kick in the pants" to get it done.

My biggest concern with this beast of a motor combo was the loss of ground clearance so I decided to do a before and after...so here it is with the stock tranny and skid.

Now is the time to say good-bye to the stock drivetrain...

2014-09-3018-14-14789_zps861dc3b8.jpg

Let's get to it...I laid all the hardware and mounts out so I could verify that I had everything. Get your blue thread lock ready.

Motor mounts are easily attached with 2 supplied screws (M3x8)...note orientation of mount.

Next was to use the supplied driveshaft pin to mount the outdrive connector

Mounting the offset skid plate is done with 2 supplied screws (M3x6)

You will need to remove rear servo crossbrace and the servo(temporarily). I would also suggest that you loosen the front crossbrace so that you can spread the chassis rails apart a little to make installation easier.

It's time to get Buford to help drop this beast in...

And what about clearance??

2014-09-30185255_zps1b8be1fd.jpg

How about just shy of an extra half inch...

Pretty slick! That's a lot of maching, wonder if they will do the value covers and intake manifold as injection molded plastics....or 3D print them. Great looking product....we might start seeing more hinged hoods being made....hmmm....,maybe you need to get some hinges 3D printed now. :)

Here is something I modeled up real quick.

the only thing that bugs me about this is the tranny and transfer case crossmember, is shouldve went under the trans and transfer case wouldve been more realistic IMO. After the install there is no protection for the transfer case as well. Also how well do brushless motors fit inside of it

any issues with the motor getting hot in there? hopefully someone makes a kit to fit these to an scx10 :)

Haven't run mine yet...had to take a trip to Worlds for this weekend, then hopefully I will get it back...

The case becomes a massive heat sink so I don't think it's going to be an issue...but we will see.

I'll be running a 35T in mine.

I was excited to see this new V8 engine and transmission combo so I bought the set for one of my TF2's that I am currently building. Well it finally showed up and I have to say it is awesome looking. However I won't be able to use it in my build because the transmission crossmember and transfer case locations interfer with the 4 link and 3 link frame mounts. Seems this new engine/transmission combo is only compatible with leaf spring suspension. What a bummer
