I have had my summit for a little while and the tires wear very fast I have found out. I was thinking about buyin the axial narrow rockstar beadlocks and the Rc4wd Mud Slingers for it! Is this a bad set up?? Do they hook up well? Are the stock servos too weak for the tires? Is the stock electronics to weak for them too??

Thanks,
Cole

I just got mine about a week ago and I am really happy with them! Great ground clearance and they hook up pretty well. they areant as soft as the canyons but if you cut the heck outof your foam the sidewalls flex pretty well. My canyons were destroyed and really baggy and that played heck on my steering servos. The mudslingers being a little harder and maybe a bit narrower actually seem to turn better for me when crawling!
On a side note I've heard bad stuff about rc4wd but I had a real good experience with them. I had my tires less than a week after me order...

On a side note ..I am running the rock crushers on axial rocksters.I went to a single high torque metal geared servo...WOW big difference.much better and no servo fighting issues. The crushers ate a set of stockers then a set of kershaw designs then a set of toward pro.went single turnigy 767hv $60 from hobby king, metal bellcrank and horn.when i want it to turn it turns..."thumbsup"I also stiffen the servo saver with a washer to stop the servo from over powering it(Servo turns and the spring is not stiff enough so the wheels wouldn't turn when under some load like against a rock it will still give on bigger hits thats a good thing) I am asking it to do alot of work where i run it is tough on servos

I really like my mud slingers they work like real boggers. I didn't think that they were that great on the rocks, stock tires are definitly better. My stock servos don't really have to much of problem with the mud slingers. They really shine in the dirt and mud, they just dig until the find traction its awesome to watch them work. Here's my favorite pic of my mud slingers on narrow rocksters. This mud was especially thick and goey.

did you have to do anything to mount them to the axial narrow rims? Rc4wd site suggested a set of there rims or proline narrow beadlocks. Just curious cuz i want them tires onmy upcomingnew summit

The crushers fit on the axials better than the prolines i have a set of each.they hold the bead better on the axials so far.I'm guessing the slingers would be the same

Them rims are hard to find in stock. I been messing with 2.2 and 1.9 trucks so long I forgot how much 40 series rims and tires can cost. But they seem like a great setup, alot folks using them.

I was curious will the mudslingers fit the stock summit rim?

Nothing fits the stock rims exept traxxas tires without modding.
Wanna spend some big money on rims have a look at these...:shock:Nice BUT...

just my $.02 worth but I have the Mudslingers on narrow Rocksters and I love em. They leave a little bit to be desired on the rocks but I havent cut the foams on mine yet. The taller tire will get you a little bit more top speed but not much. I also run the stock steering set up. When properly tuned so the servos dont fight eachother it seems to work well and so far has held up to some pretty serious bashing. Jumping is pretty much a lost cause with these monsters due to the tires acting like gyroscopes. The biggest mod you can make to this setup is venting the tires by making holes in the tires in the middle of the tread and one on the top of the tire and another directly across from the first (180 degrees) so that any water that might get into the foams can be spun out by centrifugal force, when these foams get wet they get REALLY heavy and will break half shafts quite quickly.
The other option I tried was Big Joes on Axial rockster wheels. Not beadlock and pretty wide but the set I have has done well other than the fact that they are so wide they do effect the steering some by making it work pretty hard at slow speed.

how should i cut the foams fore the mudslingers to do better on rocks?

a bunch of guys did the star trim.so the foam will look like a pinion gear when veiwed from the side.allows the tire to flex more but speed will suffer some handleing wise at least

Do it! The foam they send with them will have them set up stiffer than supermans kneecap!"thumbsup"
I cut mine and now that they are broke in and have seem lots of hot weather the sidewalls flex very nice!
I havent noticed too much of a wobble in speed runs like Jamann mentioned but I recently weighted my fronts and that bounces around a bit...

:)[awsome thanks for the info. i will be cutting the foams and lugs in morning. and post pics c-ya"thumbsup"

I noticed it when turning at higher speeds the side wall wants to roll over a bit more.Nothing major just have to turn a bit slower.Mind you i was running the rock crushers which are a bit taller still and it made the truck sit so high that it was pretty tippy.I switched back to my moab xl's for climbing steeper stuff...like http://www.youtube.com/user/discusdog

these tires rock

dig, dig ,dig these tires pull good and to me do well on rocks also. the cut foams and lugs make these come to life.
